Some time ago, I discovered Norwegian detectives. In autumn I have a special mood, and detectives are great. I have already read several books by Jo Nesbo, and I want to collect the entire series

Funnily enough House of the Dragon managed what Game of Thrones never did: Getting me to read the Song of Ice and Fire books (or well, have audible read them to me so I can do other things while listening)

I would count that as a big win for the series.

Now I dearly hope that Martin doesn't kick the bucket before he gets to finish the books...

Finally got around to reading the Cradle series by Will Wight and hot damn, is that a fun series. Would never say it is the best series ever or anything but it is such an enjoyable read. Now, I have not looked into the author at all, but it seems pretty obvious he is a fan of a certain type of anime like Naruto and One Piece because Cradle really does just read like those but in novel form. And I don't mean that as a knock, it uses many of the same tropes to great effect and even has a sense of humor that feels like it belongs in that kind of series.

I went into it knowing the last book was not released yet but figured it would be by the time I got through the other 11 books in the series. Boy was I wrong. Blew though the whole thing in less than three weeks. Highly recommend. Just a really fun adventure story.

The crippled god - A Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson

9/10 - A really good ending to the series, this is my favourite series of books.

Most of the arcs ended well and i was holding back the tears for perhaps the last 200 pages.

Just an amazing fantasy series, the majority of the POV characters have well fleshed out reasons for doing what they do, the books just highlight humanity at its best and worst. Im welling up thinking about parts of it, a week later.

The main complaint for the entire series was that the last two books felt rushed, one major character more or less got off screened and i thought the two big bads could have been fleshed out more throughout the series, it almost feels like the publishers didnt want A GRRM situation with him in the last two books when he could probably have done with an extra 1k pages over the series, i suppose thats equally down to him though, idk just felt rushed.

Suffice it to say i have read the 9k pages of this book, i am reading David Wong If this book exists your in the wrong universe

    https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/sh...wrong-universe

then im reading the series again with all the side books though which i reckon is about 15k pages

    Just read these books!

Just finished "Death's End" by Liu Cixin, part of the 'Remembrance of Earth's Past' trilogy. Sci Fi series about humanity figuring out aliens have been playing us.

    Excellent stuff.

Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree

Not even the type of book I would usually read when it comes to fantasy I prefer my grounded dark, gothic, grimdark fantasy usually, but I will be honest this book surprised me. if I could sum up this book (about an orc who wants to open a coffee shop) it would be this book is wholesome as fuck, just a good, easy, chill read. Basically a warm blanket in the form of a book its so good, great characters good world building and a sense of something fun.

I am not reading anything right now but I am listening to the Horus Heresy audiobooks at work, while I work. I just started the number four book called Flight of the Eisenstein? I listened to the first three already. They are not bad. I like the overall theme of Warhammer 40k stuff with the warp. There is too much machismo to it though. Would be more interesting if the characters were more vulnerable and not perfect genetically engineered warriors.

Right so I am finally able to get to the Raven Shadow Trilogy.

I heard its going to be adapted into a TV show. So I thought I better get reading. Halfway through the first book and its one of those really addicting reads I must say.

Wheel of Time to see what all the complaining over the adaptation was about.

Maybe you needed to read it when you were 14 to have strong feelings about it.

Reading Children of Memory, which is the third and final book in Adrian Tchaikovsky's most popular series - which I have to state, if you have not read book one, Children of Time, and you enjoy sci-fi, that is a MUST read. Children of Time is arguably my fav sci-fi book of all-time, and I have read a ton in that genre.

Thanks for that. I'm 60 pages into Children of Time and absolutely love it.

So not very far in then? The first two books or so can be a bit slow for modern audiences who have the attention span of tiktok.

That series has its low points, but it also has some of the most earned high points of any series I've ever read.

I'm re-reading it because of the crap series. Why re-read it?

Because each time we read, we get to love again.

I have terrible concentration issues as well. I often read half a page without any of it actually sinking in, while my mind thinks about what I'll be making for dinner tomorrow. It's very annoying. Had this issue my whole life which could partly be a reason why I never read much (or me not reading much could also be partly the reason I have the issue?).
