Microsoft and the return of MicroTransactions

Until now wow has been mostly microtransaction free. Yeah a lot of people buy gold and the occassional mount but that isn't that game breaking just an economy issue. However there has been ample opportunity for micro transactions to be implemented and cut out the middle man of players that make a side hustle with it. Here is what I expect to really see from the buyout

10 extra loot rolls for 5$
    <Insert farmable resource here> 1$ a stack
    Experience buffs 1$
    etc etc

Has this happened in the Elder Scrolls MMO?

If anything, according to this article, they're doing away with some.

    Hhhmmm...

Will this new wave of microtransactions come immediately after the robot overlords over at Microsoft violently seize the Blizzard offices and forcefully implement their new design philosophy? Or will the devs like prostrate themselves before the X Throne and humbly offer these game changes as tribute to their new masters?

It's been basically pay-to-win for years now...

Yep. You are missing a point we got just few cosmetics in shop per year (compared to shit ton obtainable in game) and services are useless (most people don't have to change servers every 5 minutes.. or at all honestly, not to mention reroll since 9.0 is a joke).

Check ESO to see microtransaction heavy game. Hell, even FF14 with same model business as WoW has much bigger shop. And game where service matter is for example World of Tanks where buying premium ammunition is pretty much mandatory (haven't played it for years, so it could be different now).

Another thread showing how clueless and disconnect mmo-champion is from actual gaming world.

The 10 mounts and 10 pets, with half of those pets being linked to some sort of doctors or some other promotion, is now microtransactions that are compared to the other games, that have thousand of dollars of irrelevant shit and literally patch their games like 3 times a week to introduce some new skin/glow/wings or whatever similar and most of them are the "big" MMOs that are gonna kill WoW eventually because "Amazing single player gameplay".

Do you guys literally have ever played like 2 games or something?

WoW has its problems, but microtransactions aint one.

    What an idiotic thread. Wow.

    I'm not guaranteeing hope,

But I'm only hopeful at Microsoft buying Blizzard because Bill Gates was a man of his word, when it came to the Xbox.

He said he's gonna throw money at video games, until he earns his place in there. And he did.

When it comes to politics, it might get Coocoo for CocoPuffs, but when it comes to video games, it seems the BS was kept aside.

    My take*

For all I know, I could be wrong, and in 5 years WoW becomes Hello Kitty Island Adventure. :/

There's a shit-ton of items in the store in ESO, and some of them are related to player power--such as being able to buy a skill line if you have previously leveled it to max on another character--or adjacent, such as extra carrying capacity that you can turn into gold that you can turn into purchases. But as far as I am aware, none of their systems are new since the Microsoft purchase of Bethesda.

Until we start seeing evidence to the contrary, I see no reason to believe Microsoft is suddenly going to dump a bucket of microtransactions into WOW or any other Blizzard property beyond what already exists.

Those just sound like timesaver purchases, which WoW already has in the form of the boost and token (less time spent farming gold).
If you could buy that skill line without needing to have it unlocked previously, that would be a problem.

When Microsoft acquired Zenimax, they actually forced Zenimax to REDUCE microtransactions in ESO since they were just so blatantly over the top exploitative. I think Zenimax had to introduce a currency you could earn in-game to buy the microtransaction items. ESO has almost 0 mounts that you can earn in the game besides just Brown Horse, black horse, and light brown horse. 95% of mounts are through their predatory rotating seasonal lootbox system. Camel, Wolf, Horse, Bear, etc model with a different color or theme. Barely any unique mount models are released.
