They randomly pick a fake leak that's rarely being considered/talked about, they take that name and register it on their site, and they also create some throwaway 'promotional art' with a fake logo on reddit to throw everyone off the scent.

Think it's possible they're conning us with this one? Like they intentionally might know someone would try and datamine the website so they purposely throw a red herring our way?

The whole "fake leak planted" shit is posited every 2 years.

expansion_02 doodads for Northrend? No way, too soon to fight the Lich King, Blizzard is kidding!
Worgen and Goblin masks? Too convenient to show up with the leaks! Blizzard is trolling and Cata is fake!
People did it with Mists. Joke trademark!
WoD? Could not possibly involve time travel, the people at SoL were just getting trolled/misinformed!
BFA? Those Zandalar and Kul Tiran sets and achievements were planted to throw us off!

I find the entire dragon concept incredibly boring for a whole expansion. I want them to do something completely new with Azeroth in unknown lands and people, like Pandaria (my favourite expansion)

TLDR
Main enemy is Chromatus, though lots of minor stories all about.
6 disconnected zones (2 of them being revamps).
4 new micro classes (1 spec each) instead of one full new class.
Class ‘skins’ for some preexisting classes.
Player housing.
Carpenter and Logger professions.
Dalaran capitol city.
No level cap increase....

A lot of it sounds super fan-servicey...But in a way, I wonder if that's what makes it seem a bit more likely. They need to turn the ship around and score a big win after BFA and Shadowlands, so why not just give people what they've been begging for?

Although I feel like no new levels would be a BIG mistake. I know a lot of people have asked for that, but I think new levels is pretty key in making the expansion box price feel worth it, especially for people that don't play for months/years. It legit feels like a "You think you do, but you don't" moment.

Overall, super skeptical about anything beyond the title and general setting at this point.

It works for GW2, and blizz is nothing if not constantly looking for what someone else has done well to graft onto their stuff. Plus if the major story beats are right, it can make sense that we're not really going after some god or other worldender so we're not specifically searching for a constant way to get stronger but exploring these strange new lands as adventurers.

At least my thought on the matter is that this might be something to bring people back(IE me and others) who got tired of world of sylvanus, and those who got tired of the narrative being that the world being literally always on the brink of disaster after disaster after disaster. something smaller in scale that leads up to a bigger event instead of "IT'S THE END OF DAYS SAVE US HERO!" from the word go.

especially if it's true about the fanservicey bits like housing(that people have been asking for like a decade) and who knows, maybe one of those class skin things will be actual survival hunter instead of the shredded remains we've been left with.

A bit off considering Minstrel is healer, Dark Ranger is already a Hunter skin and Necromancer is already a Warlock skin.

Hunters are the only ones that use bows/guns/crossbows, 3 items for 3 specs. Demon hunters are 2 specs to use warglaives. Does anyone even use wands?

Its not too far fetched to add a "instrumental" weapon for a single spec. Could even do it legion style again, they could get a weapon and "slot it" with other weapons that drop to increase flexibility.

All phys damage classes had a ranged slot for a bit of time, wands were used by priest, warlock, and mage, hell priest was the main wand class for a long time.
The problem is you are creating weapons for just one spec and adding them to all old expansions and it sounds as if the spec can use nothing else. The only close example is DHs, but DHs can use pretty much any edged 1h weapon.

To be honest, it seems like a mix of class skins, and 4th specs. Microclasses are literally 4th specs that aren't attached to existing classes, and that's a route I never really considered, but totally makes sense.

As a 1-spec class, it keeps its full theme, and provides new gameplay without overbloating. 4 Microclasses is equivalent of 1.33 new class.

It's gonna be a hell of a lot more work for them to take on, but honestly, it's pretty damn hefty and a gamechanger that is sure to draw a crowd.

New specs make sense to me, what I mean by 1 spec classes is they don't really need to do that, they can just add a spec and it won't become a bloated mess of the character creator screen.
Dragonknight can be a warrior spec.
Tinker can be a hunter spec.
Chrononancer can be mage.
And well Ministrel doesn't make any sense but i suppose it could be a priest spec.
And adding specs makes more sense then adding classes that will require full balancing. The specs would share skills out of the rest of class and those will be balanced class wide. Adding micro classes is the same as adding full classes, it would be more like adding 4 classes, because of their own unique skills and new talent trees.

It's not quite the clean break that I think they need but it may well work for those who don't follow this every day.

I think the 1 spec classes may be shared 4th specs and the ones where it doesnt make sense, they get the class skin option.
