Patch 2.5.4 - Wrath of the Lich King Classic Interface Files

Patch 2.5.4 - Wrath of the Lich King Classic Interface Files
Blizzard just pushed the first build of 2.5.4 (the new TBC Classic phase) to the patch servers and it has the first hints that seem to confirm WotLK Classic is on its way.

The Classic clients separate interface files per "expansion" into separate folders, e.g. "Interface_Vanilla" for 1.x files and "Interface_TBC" for 2.x. This patch is the first that adds some files in the "Interface_Wrath" folder that have changes specific to WotLK, e.g. Deathknight support for the character creation screen as well as the blue buttons that are used on the login/character selection screens.

These files have likely been added as the various WoW clients use a shared code/content base, it is highly unlikely these files are going to be used in 2.5.4 and are likely for the WotLK Classic 3.4.x client instead.

    Code:
    Interface_Wrath\FrameXML\Bindings.xml
    Interface_Wrath\GlueXML\GlueButtons.xml
    Interface_Wrath\GlueXML\CharacterCreate.xml
    Interface_Wrath\GlueXML\CharacterCreate.lua

Can't wait to play Wotlk. TBC got too boring and too tedious pretty quickly.

Curious but in what way will WotLK be any different? It's classic after all.

Can't wait for folks to realize Wrath wasn't all that different from BC, aside from having Wintergrasp.

I think they will, Cata had decent raids, the heroic dungeons were pretty tough at the start and the world got revamped. All in all I think it was still well received so I don't see why they wouldn't carry on.

Not a big surprise, I think everyone expected WotLK Classic at this point.

I'm curious to see how it'll do. It seems to be a perennial favorite in polls, and a lot of people consider it the high point of WoW. Though I personally disagree, it'll be interesting to observe people's reactions to revisiting the source of their nostalgia.

God I can't wait. TBC got boring so fast.

The timing of this is. Hilarious.

Well, Wotlk is very similar to TBC overall, however the classes play a lot better in my opinion, the leveling is much easier and faster (which for me at least means more fun as it feels less like an endless chore), which means that I am gonna play alts (unlike in TBC where I only stuck to one class) and the endgame is also just way more accessible and again easier, which at least for me means more fun. The TBC raids so far were actually very easy as well on their own, however the prep requirements and the required setups (fuck shamans) just made it quite hard and tedious to manage.

Basically, Wotlk is an easier TBC (because of the many QoL changes) with better class design and I really like that.

I hope they won't do a classic for every expac, even though I liked cata and mop. They should instead really think of a way how they can make the old content (permanently) relevant again in retail besides the timewalking events. Making a classic release for every expansion will just make all of them a ghost town, I mean season of mastery is already a deserted and I am sure that the remaining TBC realms will also just be like that.

well wrath isnt as tedious, not only do you have rdf,you have much easier raids overall, and you can just spam easy dungeons for amazing loot, and classes feel and perform better in general than in tbc

its a more casual tbc, classes play better and feel stronger, easy strong epics with rdf, much easier raiding both difficuty wise and raid size

Will be interesting to see how they handle the LFG feature.
Would be ironic that the same people screaming "no changes" in Classic would be celebrating Wrath coming out. The expansion that set WoW down the path it struggled to veer out of for the next decade.

LFG should be there on day 1, if people complain about LFG being there, they can just leave.

obviously WotLK is coming. whoever thought Blizz not do this was extremely dellusional imo. but when i read comments like „TBC is boring, cant wait for WotLK“ i foresee a baaaaad awakening.

nonetheless xpac3 has now the chance to show the world that all his favor as „best xpac ever“ is justified. i personally doubt this (and i play since 16 years without interruption in sub). but we will see….

either „big yeah“ or „hard awakening“

Not sure people remember WotLK very well but it was kinda boring too. I mean at the time, when we were younger and it was the current expansion, it was great but for today's standards it will be super boring, just like TBCC, maybe slightly less. I will play it but surely not a lot.
