How many days til opening day?!

Baker Mayfield to the Panthers, after giving up some salary that he can earn back in incentives, and the Browns paying part of his salary too, just to make him go away. Costs the Panthers a conditional 5th rounder, aka nothing.
Guess we know that Watson won't serve a full season suspension.

Also note on his salary. The Browns are still on the hook to pay 10 mil of it, Carolina only 5 mil.
Cleveland paying the Panthers QB twice as much as they are.
Ex-Mod. Technically retired, they just won't let me quit.

Also Cleveland plays the Panthers week 1. Should be fun.
We play on Thursday night so I know what I'm watching Sunday.
I figure we're gonna see more 5th year options get declined after this Mayfield/Darnold debacle. Of course Darnold's never should've been picked up.

They're gonna keep getting picked up, guarantee it.
Because teams will convince themselves that "they'll break out in year 4 and we don't want to have to pay them a mega-deal a year early." Frankly the fact it can be declined at all feels like a dinosaur when QBs are concerned.

I doubt the length (or knowing the NFL, lack of) suspension had anything to do with Mayfield being traded. He wasn't going to play for them again.
What is probably does mean is the Seahawks are fine with Geno Smith starting for them this year.
This is also the opposite of what the Panthers did last season. They were paying for Bridgewater to practice his check downs in Denver last year. This one might work out better.

Lot of you guys penciling Mayfeidl to start over Darnold?

I have to think Mayfield is the starter.
Can't understand how Darnold failed so spectacularly. I guess he really did see ghosts that one time, and it put the fear of God in him or something.
Darnold's ceiling is Mayfield's floor which is more an indictment of Darnold than praise of Mayfield.
