he took the portal that was originally just meant as an in-game thing and wasn't meant to actually be a usable portal between the sides. same thing happens in 9.2.5 with the blood elves getting help from the kyrian and the necrolords with some undead problems. basically, the writers changed their mind mid-expac. nothing new, just more bad writing.

In 9.0 we had Dezco, Ol' Emma and Griftah hang around Oribos.
Taelia, Calia and Shandris also popped up right after us.

But it's a temporary portal storywise. Portals usually aren't permanent. Somebody has to hold them open. So how did Khadgar get there?

The worst thing about this, even with this being a joke, with blizz saying the dreadlords have been playing 275d chess all this time, this could be a thing. Now they can say that anyone that is acting strange and not like their established personality, is a “dead lord”. They can use this excuse for bullshit “ooohhh surprise!!!!” when ever they want now.

Most likely it was the same time the random Granny came through the Stormwind portal looking for her dead relatives or perhaps they were making some bs statement that Karazhan always was connected to the Shadowlands and he just slipped the cracks he'd only seen peeks into before.

Having wrote that you've just made me realise how under utilised that aspect of the Dreadlords was used in this expansion probably to an even worse degree than Legion considering this one was supposed to show their 'origin' and presumably them in their element. After all I can only recall them using "blank is a dreadlord" for random Venthyr and some guy in Korthia and it wasn't even clever uses. Though if he were a Dreadlord you'd have to wonder why he actually alerted Jaina to his presence and then told her he was going on tourism, she probably hadn't thought about him once since she threw a fit in Legion.

The connection to Oribos is made, all one needs to do is open the portal.
He either just asked the local stormwind portal guard to port him over or teleported himself to Oribos.

Just like Alleria and Maiev did as they also appear in the chapter 8 quests in the background.

We see Brokers collect creatures and relics from across the universe and even port across Azeroth in their own dungeon.
Kyrians can enter and leave at will, so can the Necrolords, Fae yeet their loa back into the cosmos.

But suddenly seeing Khadgar, one of the most powerful mages on Azeroth, appear in a place that we established a portal link to is somehow weird?
