Being ABLE to display horns or have your eyes glow different colors are cool options, but certainly not necessary.
They did that because its what demon hunter had, crazy demonic customizations, and they though it would work again, ignoring that dragons at best, get different eyes and horns, and thats it.

IT also helps to make a image that they are "working rly hard", to give "so much customizations" when this is easy with their new tech, they did a bunch for a lot of races in shadowlands, is a no problem add 30 hair colors for someone.

I'd love to be able to have mine appear as a Nightborne, or perhaps even a Dark Iron (assuming they ever add a "Black Dragonflight" spec).
you, me, and a lot of people would want their visage form to be something different, forcing you to pick either male blood elf or female human is an awful way to go against their own idea that you are supposed to chose your "own identity"

We’re talking about something cosmetic which will be upgraded throughout the Alpha-Beta process. Cool your jets.

You don't know if till be upgraded, and you don't know if they will upgrade absed around people feedback, thats exactly why we should not "cool our jets"

You’re right, I don’t. Keep on demanding until you get what you want. Hopefully you get what you’re asking for.

The more I look at DnD Dragonborns, the less Dracthyr looks like dragons for me. Even with wings the look less draconic and more like geckos.

Good changes. The current head is definitely WAY too small. Slender body is okay but there should be a larger option as well. I can't believe people are paid professionally to design these things when the community can turn around an improve them in a day (or even redesign them). If I was working at Blizz and saw this I would be so demoralized lol.

that is one of the reasons things may not change, blizzard is stubborn and petty sometimes, they may get butthurt because other artists did better and don't change

I’m 100% with you. My buddy said it best, the drakrhyr look like they were designed by a furry. Like it’s so far off from other dragon humanoids. I love the idea but hate the way they look. Drakkonids
Or Dragonspawn like you said would have been better. But I do think the OPs ideas are better than Blizzards for sure.

    No.

And Blizzard has stated they're going to have the option of shorter snouts and broader faces.

These looks like lizards/geckos as well... which is a weird complaint anyway, since dragons are heavily inspired by lizards / geckos / aligators etc etc... reptilians in general.

The problem is not with their head, but in their overall proportions.
Legs are too long in relation to body, thighs are too fat while hands are too slim. Chest and shoulders are too slender. Neck is too long and slim, more wyrm like rather than draconic. Their heads look exactly like raptor heads.
WoW always was something like "rock'n'roll fantasy", dragons were a brutal thing. Dracthyr looks more like they were created by a furry artists with tons of flags and emojis on their twitter bio.

Have you not been around the past 3 expansions? Once it's in beta it's set in stone.

You know what's interesting? If they can't wear armor anyway, why not just use the quadraped model?

My thoughts exactly. There are 2 reasons that people have always used to enforce humanoid shapes; ability to display mogs, and ability to ride mounts. It was stated that they are forced to turn into visage form to dragon ride (for no valid reason imo), and they seemingly can't show mog as well. It's like a compromise with the negatives of both approaches (humanoid and full dragon) while minimizing the pros of each. :|

I imagine it's so they can play other classes in the future.

It does really annoy me that dracthyr can't be their own mounts for the purposes of dragonriding, though. Like, why not? Players that want to collect appearances and use the mounts in the dragonriding system can still do that, and ride them in visage form, but the dragonriding skill really ought to apply to their own dragon form too.

Thought they mentioned that they would be able to do so... Only riding mounts would require visage.

Frankly, I think the animations would be shit... Then again I'm not a fan of WoW Dragons design in general.

They can do the most basic, non-upgraded version of dragon riding, which will definetly force them to ride a dragon in visage form in the future.

That's the way I understood it too, and if that's indeed the case then it really seems like a strange miss.

Luckily, with enough player feedback, maybe it's something they can change over the course of testing unless it's strictly an art and animation issue.
