I think they should be all races even if the customization doesn't have as much effort put into it. Dragons can be literally anything.
I'd be okay-ish even with something more simple like the kind of customisation the Aspects' humanoid forms use. Which is basically just horns... Although I'm sure they should be able to at least give us some eye variation and maybe some scale tattoos.

out of all the things shown the new race model did seem the weakest of the bunch.

sort of... decade old model that is also poorly designed.

  3. #143
Still wish it would have just been a human model or belf model like kalec or noz that let you have a dragon flight form and maybe a dragon based spell racial. Maybe some horns and cool hair colors in mortal form.
    Mighty one, never forget.

I'm sure someone will come along soon and start shouting about how Blizzard confirmed there's a "bulky" body type and that we should all rejoice and this thread is therefore pointless, yada yada... I thought I should clear things up before it has the chance to get to that point.

Firstly, yes, Blizzard has indeed confirmed that the Dracthyr have a bulky option they can choose from. That much is true.

However, the bulky option they're talking about looks like this (the one on the right):

If you can't notice it at first, I don't blame you, because the difference is very subtle. Too subtle, in fact! So subtle that no one even knew this option existed and despite all of us seeing these pictures earlier, we just assumed there was only one body type.

If the bulky option is on the level of some kind of an optical illusion that you can only see once it's been pointed out to you, then that clearly means there's still work to be done.

But the silver lining here is that this directly confirms the existence of a body type toggle. This is good news as it means their head's been in the right place all along and what they have to do now is simply make their bulky body type bulkier.

Of course, there are still other issues with the model such as their long, snake necks and inability to wear armor (although they did also touch on this a bit too, but in an unclear way).

So in other words, the "fight" is far from over! And we absolutely should remain vocal about our concerns with the model until they reach Blizzard and real, visible changes have been made.

It also doesn't mean there's only 2 options. But yes feedback is good to ensure they do add more if they aren't there. We also know necks are customization areas too.

I think they should be able to wear armor for sure, I mean they make glyphs for Shadow Priest and Boomkin just so people can show off their armor, add in the fact they're heavily based on Worgem...they really should at least be able to wear armor

They did say there’s much more than what we saw and it includes a more slender option and a bulkier option.

That does slightly confuse me in terms of the images, because I don’t know if the one on the left is the “more slender” option or the normal one.
If the one on the left is the “more slender” style and the right is the “normal” one, then that would give me hope for the bulkier body… but we’ll see.

I gave it a tepid yes, I want more options, but I think we will get more options as well. That being said I do like that you actually built out the Drakthyr with different body types instead of just going "LOL beef stick drakoniods da best, ME WANT SMASH!" Because going from one okay point to an extreme one in the other direction is definitely not the answer.

not gonna lie i would have been happier with drakonids with more class options and the ability to show armor.

Why? Because he's actually giving feedback and criticism instead of frothing at the mouth and saying the devs are all failures?

Pretty much agree with everything you edited. Shorter neck looks good. Wearing armor looks good. Bulkier neck as an option also looks good. I think the slender one should just be made the female, and the bulky fanmade one should be the male. Then it's really good.

I think ultimately it will be better if they let players choose any body type they want regardless of their character's gender, keeping with the androgynous theme of the race that Blizzard seems to be going for.

I was kinda happy, they announced the bulky option but damn its hardly noticeable It needs to be less subtle i think not a case of having to lean in close to see.

Also I still REALLY hope your armor set shows up on them, not a fan of them walking around like that all the time

Agreed. This new race looks like they are from a completely different game altogether. They are very jarring to look at.

Drakonoids would have been a waste of developer time. That race would have flopped hard, because no one wants to play a big bulky race with a horrifying appearance. Also such a race would have added nothing to the game that isn’t currently being offered by Draenei, Kul’Tirans, and Tauren.

    Blizzard made the right call.

I love the edits in the OP! Especially the one from ThunderBrush, boy did that give me a hard draconic boner. Kazekatt's face edits are badass too. For Titan's sake, how can Blizzard make such a horrendous perversion of a playable draconic race.......

I've been waiting for 15 YEARS for playable draconic race and this is what we get? Cus we sure ain't getting a second draconic race.

I pray to Elune they change them as suggested above.

Blizzard has already confirmed there are more options we haven't seen yet.

I surmise the majority of people would’ve preferred that as well. Obviously the ship has sailed, but I would’ve preferred scrapping the new class altogether and going with newly modeled drakonids, with a typical selection of classes to play from and the ability to wear armor like other races and the ability to visage into any race/sex on your chosen faction.
