    Maybe to you. But to Blizzard is part of flying and the Dragon Riding system. Basic form of dragon riding is falling and gliding. You can't level up the Drac'thyr form which means that it won't be able to do more then that, right? They haven't out right said you will be able to do unrestricted full flying as a Dracthyr. You are again reading way to much into the interview answers instead of stopping at the exact wording of what they stated.

    Kobolds are dragonkin aswell. Just saying.

    I definitely prefer the more bulky and less lean and lanky version of them. Especially since proto dragons(the elemental kind that Neltharion experimented on to create the race) are definitely more buff looking then the more slender aspect types.

    I'm really interested in knowing where everyone is getting the information that its gliding and falling, because thats definitely not what we have seen from the reveal.

    which is lame, just like i said.

    The race of "playable dragons" that can only glide is lame, they should have full flying like worgens have the ground mount speed
    You have it mixed up. The "falling with style" is what happens outside the Dragon Isles and is a more advanced form of the demon hunter's gliding ability. What happens on the Dragon Isles is Dragonflight, which is still momentum-based flying as we see in the videos, just with the Dracthyr instead of the mount.

    So you honestly believe that DragonFLIGHT at first is just gliding around and slowly falling as you would with the DH's wings or a Goblin Glider? Seriously?

    The developer said that Dracthyr will be able to fly. I'm pretty sure they know the difference between flying and falling.

    I'd like to know as well, because in the thread saying that Dragonflight is just gliding and falling, the Developer never says anything close to that;

    [Dragonriding] is very fast and fluid, it's arcadey,” Jeremy explains. “You press the spacebar and you do a giant takeoff. And then the whole mini-game is that you've got height and speed and you have to try to figure out how to get as far as possible before you land again. And it should feel like you're swooping and diving through these landscapes. With giant zones the two ended up working really well together. You're gonna move really fast when dragonriding too, much faster than existing mount speeds. Taking off there should be a giant gust of wind and a big flap of your wings,” Jeremy adds. “Our environment team is doing a great job incorporating things like more cloud layers so that you can fly through clouds and get that feeling of moving really fast. And then as you start to speed up and go faster and faster you'll see particles fly off your wings. And eventually that turns into contrails.”

    “A big push was to make the experience of moving around the world feel more three dimensional,” Jeremy continues. “That idea of conservation of momentum, of caring about when you stop, because you don't want to stop, you want to keep going fast. How do I get from A to B as fast as possible? Finding those different spires to jump off of becomes an interesting thing to look for as you're traversing the world.”
    And with the Dracthyr;

    The Dracthyr are going to be able to participate in the dragonriding system and mechanics too,” Graham confirms. “Dracthyr have wings so they get to fly and they use the same style of momentum and gravity that dragonriding drakes do. During their starter experience, you get introduced to the new mechanics with tutorials and all that stuff. Heading into building the expansion, knowing that we wanted to create this feature, we had to set up the environment to match. I've only gotten to see it myself recently and it shocked me how much it brought me into the world. Being engaged in the act of moving around while flying is very different for WoW, and made me see the environment in a new way.”

    And with that it’s worth noting that dragonriding is limited to the Dragon Isles. “We made these giant expansive zones so that it would work as a gameplay mechanic and for people on a variety of different hardware,” Jeremy Feasal says. “We don't want to have you fly into a bunch of creatures and then have them pop up around you. We're designing the whole outdoor game world with dragonriding in mind. Also, we don't want to invalidate all of the many hundreds of mounts that our players have collected up until now.”

    Now, Ion did an interview where he was asked about Dracthyr flying OUTSIDE of the Dragon Isles, and Ion said that Dracthyr will have a more advanced version of the DHs glide ability. That's probably where they're getting confused.

    I am assuming Djaradin are the size of Vykrul since they both described as half-giants. Most races I believe are below their waist. I think Dracthyr will be up there in height probably close to Tauren and Zandalari if not a little taller.

    I would love to play as Djaradin, tbh. They look menacing.

    Thanks for the picture. That really puts things in perspective.

    Uh, here's a Vrykul next to a Draenei...

    Blizzard has mentioned a few times that you are fighting against gravity. "jump off and dive" implies more gliding and with climbing restricted in some way. If you don't have to worry about flight time or gravity from the start then there really isn't much to the system at all that separates it from flying as we know it now. And Blizzard said that will be unlocked at a later date.

    Pretty much it is just gliding and slowly falling at the start. Hence why your own quote says that you hit the space bar and the mini-game is getting height and speed to see as far as you can go before hitting the ground. "you have to try to figure out how to get as far as possible before you land again"

    Like I said it is a summary of what basic level of Dragon Riding will entail from the comments they made. It isn't what the entire system entails which is why we level up and everything. But Drac'thyr can't progress on dragon riding in their natural form currently. So they will be stuck at that basic level, right?

    I believe the implication is...they're tall. Case closed.

    So at their size people still demand a melee spec? Love to see all the melee trying to see what is going on in a dungeon or raid.

    It’s momentum-based flying, in other words depending on what you do in flight you can regain lift and continue flying. Dracthyr wont have access to more advanced abilities that allow them to maintain lift or gain speed, but they will have the basic abilities. In other words, if you’re very good, there’s no reason you couldn’t remain flying for a long time.

    With gliding and falling (like DH) you never regain lift and you continue falling no matter what. That’s a very big difference.

    I like the fact that they are huge. Makes the concept more interesting IMO, and brings them closer to being standard dragons.

    So if they can't maintain lift they will be falling, yes? If they can't maintain speed they will be gliding, yes? You are just being stubborn about it at this point.

    Yeah, and their wings and tails would further obstruct vision and line of sight. Good call on them being RDPS/Heal.

    They will have the basic abilities that allow them to maintain lift. We’ve also seen the dragons dive or do a hard bank around an obstacle and use that momentum to fly further. So Dracthyr may get those since they could be base. Something like barrel roll or loops are probably too advanced. We won’t know until we get the Dragonflight skill tree.

    Well the implication could also be that they’re not getting bulkier forms.
