I believe it's already been posted in this thread, but to me it's even more depressing that so many silicon valley billionaires are just like him or worse. There were a bunch that were texting him with stupid ideas, too.

"I wasn't wrong, I was misinformed by someone else", one of the classic not-my-fault deflections.

And that also some things were true, but not meaningful? I honestly don't know what is supposed to mean in this context.

It means, "Yes, Halli does have MS, but please don't think that's why I tried to fire him even though that's what I said, because my lawyers finally got it through my skull that it would look really, areally, really, really, really, really bad in court."
"For the present this country is headed in directions which can only carry ruin to it and will create a situation here dangerous to world peace. With few exceptions, the men who are running this Government are of a mentality that you and I cannot understand. Some of them are psychopathic cases and would ordinarily be receiving treatment somewhere. Others are exalted and in a frame of mind that knows no reason."

There's probably an intern at a law firm whose job is to watch Musk's tweets 24/7.

He hasn't used "You're just attacking me because I'm African" yet, but there's still time.

    Meh. Edison actually invented stuff.

Did he? I maybe mistaken but I think Edison basically just stole from smarter people or "improved" the design and buried them using his family connection, copyright and money some he allegedly had killed by his goons. The inventors of most of the things he claimed for himself ended up dying broke and relatively unknown or had "accidents".

  11. #3531
I'm pretty sure that while Edison stole a lot of shit, he did have his own inventions. (Too lazy to look them up at the moment)

  12. #3532
Edison hired people to invent stuff for him and then took all the credit, fame, money...

So basically the original Musk even though its factually wrong there are still people who think Elon founded and created Tesla.

Edison correctly ascertained the value of other peoples work. Someone does have to figure out how to efficiently produce and market useful inventions.

Musk isn’t all that much different since he wasn’t wrong about the value of things like PayPal, electric cars and reusable rockets.

However the world would’ve probably been a much better place if the useful work of marketing and production weren’t attached to petty mean spirited shitheads.

Let's also not forget aside from being mean spirited shitheads they both are infamous for not paying people what they are owed. It's ironic Musk's main company is named after Tesla the guy who Edison screwed out of his deserved pay then went on a tear to destroy him.

Holy fucking shit, Matt Taibbi is an idiot. I guess he's there as a Republican witness and like...jesus christ. Wasserman Schultz has never been the most impressive member of Congress or the best questioner, but even she mops the floor with him by getting him to literally disagree with his own previous commentary from just a few years ago regarding journalism and if one can be a credible journalist if they're spoon-fed information.

Like in this instance with Elom.

I'll need to see more, but man, it sure seems like this continues to go disastrously for Republicans who can really only muster up some monologues and a friendly witness to give non-expert opinion on a topic.

To that point on slanted information - https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1633863483186880514

Rep. Connolly pointing out that Taibbi was receiving slanted information from Elom focused exclusively on Democratic requests for content moderation and none of the actual requests from the Trump White House. Which we know exists from previous testimony.

    https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1633866035249184772

Taibbi is treating this as seriously as the rest of the Republicans, I see. I'm all for not revealing sources and shit but like...literally we know who gave him access. The source who gave him access has also confirmed this. This is all a matter of public record as far as I know.

    https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1633875161316474881

Taibbi, asked if it was right that Twitter took down Kanye's overtly Nazi posts responds, "I think it's a difficult question. Hate speech is protected in the United States."

And then goes on to argue via anecdote that tolerating Nazi's and allowing them to spread their hateful ideology makes a society more free.

Which I'll again point out that Republicans and conservative-leaning folks continue to take a disturbingly gentle-touch approach to Nazi's whereas the whole world should absolutely be following Germany's lead on the topic. They are the experts, after all.

    https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1633878600977117184

And whoever this Shellenberger cat is seems like a god-damned idiot. Twitter voluntarily pausing the Hunter Biden laptop story purely of their own accord has been public knowledge for like, well over a year.

Republicans aren't remotely serious here, as evidenced by these two absolute fucking clowns rofl.

Taibbi looks like a thumb in a suit.

Asked if he had profited from Twitter files relationship with Musk, Taibbi’s response: “I’ve also spent money I haven’t had before.”
    Ok then.

That's a way to put it. Another way is Musk paid you to put on the Twitter files as a cover for journalism. Another way to say it is by receiving money from the CEO of Twitter, you compromise yourself by only getting what Elmo chooses to give you.

Watched most of Taibbi's testimony he acted if he was a guilty criminal up there getting grilled.

    Also...

Elon Musk asked managers at Twitter to nominate their best employees for promotion, then fired the managers and replaced them with their lower paid nominees

Sadly who thinks that employees have freedom. I'm an hoping that the remaining staying in that toxic environment have to stay there to earn a paycheck. Otherwise just being there and praying you don't get fired is not a place I wont to work.

I feel so bad for all the employees who are stuck at Twitter because their residency is tied to their employment there.

It's wild how apparently if you purchase a company for $44B you can just like...choose to stop making payments your new company is obligated to make. Like rent. And paying off credit card bills and shit.

Normally if that happens to any regular jackoff someone from collections comes by, or you get evicted while you're at work, or your wages get garnished, or there are myriad other consequences that can quickly pile up. But I guess if you're a billionaire running now-private large corporation you get like, years of delinquency before anyone bothers to do much about it.

Real though, the Taibbi testimony seems like a complete and utter disaster once again. Everything about these hearings has gone terribly for Republicans, at least if one is actually paying attention and not getting their hearing summaries from the office of House Representative Jim Jordan.

I'm just going to draw the parallel with McCarthy and Carlson right here, point out this is a Trump cultist trend, and then dump them both in the Dominion lawsuit bin of "they know it's a lie but they're selling it for money".

I'd ask for contradicting evidence, but there isn't any.

There's a triumvirate of shitty "journalist" dudes: Sirota, Glenn and Taibbi who basically all scratch each others back and promote each other and who have one goal: to disingenuously attack Dems. None of them are actual journalists and it drives them insane when people say it.

One wonders ... if the Crowdfunded Podcast Left was actually "crowdfunded" at all. Patreon is among other things a cool and good way to money-launder and hide where your actual funding is coming from. Moreso if your a Billionaire that has a deep understanding online credit card transactions.
