That's because transphobic snowflakes react to it. They want to ignore the humanity and such of trans people. So they refuse the identification of cisgender. Thus they get called out.

Getting called cisgender, asking what it means, shrugging and going "ok".
    That is the reasonable reaction.

Same as getting called straight/heterosexual and then just going "ok" is a reasonable one.

But transphobes hate getting termed as cis, and then out themselves.

Him "confirming it" still doesn't make it true, sweetheart.

I’m okay with this change, given the added context.
I'm not surprised that you specifically are okay with this change.

Here's why both you and he are full of it: the origin of a word and the origin of its current context are not the same thing. The n-word originating from the Iberian word for the color black does not make it any less offensive in its current social context - similarly, "cis" as a prefix being (supposedly) coined by Sigusch does not automatically make it offensive in its current social context.

Elon really do just be pandering to far-righties and bigots with the thinnest of veils. I wish we could just have everyone move off of Twitter at this point, it's becoming more toxic by the day.

Then Musk is a moron, because the argument presented is just dishonest bullshit.

The origin of cis- as a prefix dates back to Latin, a couple thousand years back. It's literally the opposite of "trans". It's been used extensively in scientific endeavours for centuries, because science always used Latin.

    https://www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/hi...yond.%E2%80%9D

Worse, Elon and friends are openly lying about who coined the term "cisgender" specifically in the modern context.

    https://www.huffpost.com/entry/what-...b01e9288730415

Sigusch coined the term cissexual a few years prior, but pretty much nobody paid attention and it has no relation to the origin of "cisgender", and Sigusch was in no way the guy who coined the cis- prefix, which again, was some Latin dude thousands of years ago.

It's all lies and bullshit and if you fell for any of this you've really got to take some time to self-reflect on why you're so goddamned gullible to just eat up propaganda horseshit like this with a giant spoon and a smile on your face.

Elon replaced a Twitter regime that labeled a bunch of words and opinions as problematic and banworthy. He's not going to make a better one by adding more words to the hateful list, just of his own selection.

I can even agree that there are activists on Twitter that use it as a slur. It's just not going to make the debate any better trying to be censorious of a term with dual use and widespread meaning.

TERFs gonna TERF, and this one went mask off (literally) a couple years ago. This is me completely unsurprised that they think every shit take on Twitter--and "overseas media" whatever the fuck that's supposed to prove--about trans people is "eye-opening" and is acceptable.

Are we still just believing Elom and the idiots he responds to uncritically despite both himself and the idiots he's a reply-guy for consistently being fucking wrong?

Or the, "One person who did some good and also very bad things used the term separately from doing very bad things so because they separately did very bad things we have to reject literally everything they've done." argument?

Because if so we'd better write off missile technology, a lot of medical advances like open heart surgery etc. etc. etc. because those all originated from pretty awful places!

Then you're being ridiculous, because it's not a slur and there is no "dual use". You're just parroting bigoted disinformation.

That's not very Freeze Peach absolutist of him. He said Freeze Peach was super important for us to get to mars and then he just censors people like this. I'd call that pretty hypocritical, especially as he's promoting hate-based disinformation simultaneously.

Next up: "Bless your heart" is now a slur because people have interpreted it as a devastating insult.

The german dude didn't coin the term "cisgender". That's a lie they're perpetrating. He used the term "cissexual" as an antonym for "transsexual", because that's how Latin has worked for 2000 years, but his work had absolutely nothing to do with the origin of the term "cisgender" other than sharing the same Latin derivation for the prefix.

Hey now! If those HMS commercials taught me anything, it's that 'bless your heart' can be a devastating insult.

Ppl really going out pf their way to pretend that adding the prefix cis to the word "sissy" (which is a slur) stops it from being a slur xD

At least make the argument that it should not be banned regardless of it being slur lol

Except that is not the origin of the word. Why do you blindly believe was right wing conmen say on Twitter? First there was your "eye opening" experience with the Matt Walsh hit piece, now it's Elon parroting false information. You should really fact check what these grifters say.

Y'all really need to learn the difference between an insult and a slur.

Harassment is already (theoretically) against the Twitter TOS. Why is there a need to pretend that 'cis' is derogatory on top of that, exactly?

Nobody's going to take you seriously, you've openly lied about what you've "personally seen" any number of times before this on similar issues.

Because the people making that claim use "trans" as an insult/attempt at a slur, and thus that's the framing of how they see "cis".

They're telling on themselves, every single one.

I just think it's kinda funny Miss Thing claims she sees all these incidents on Twitter where people are using cis as a slur but "doesn't know what TERF is."

The dishonesty is pathological at this point.

You didn't seem to give a shit about this when you barged into the thread about Republicans allowing kids to work in factories with "um ackshually what about California?"

And no, we're well aware that the reason you're not going into "personal details and accounts" is because you don't have any actual evidence for your nonsense. Pathological dishonesty, indeed.
