Yep, if you read an article with some dumbass like Elon Musk talking about something stupid and you scroll down and see a couple dozen response tweets, theres a couple dozen to that count gone. While it may curb some bots, it will curb more random actual users, than it will bots. Say you have an emergency in your area, and your law enforcement uses Twitter to keep you up to date, but you had a long morning making fun of Elon on Twitter. You can't view that tweet now for say an Amber Alert or a riot in your area.

I hope Mastadon or Bluesky takes off soon.

yeah no, 1k isn't enough. I hit that just browsing sports news. Frankly, any limitation is dumb. Why would any advertisers stay when their ads wont reach that far due to said limitations? Ads count as tweet. What happens if a government agency needs to send out alerts or information? My weather guy shoots out at least 50 per severe storm event.

If this view limit goes into effect, it's going to kill Twitter.

Every single one of Elon's policies has been from a place of deep stupidity. Whether Elon thinks this is a good change because it will reduce traffic or a good change because it will increase incentive to subscribe, both are vastly stupid on his part. He will lose viewers of ads in the form of his free viewers (Though tbf, he killed advertiser friendliness and thus why he probably wants to reduce overall viewers and increase paid viewers) and gain very little in the way of paid users.

There's going to be a point where enough people are quitting twitter for other social media platforms that it will completely tank the site. A critical mass for which there is no recovering from. And I pray that mass is soon, because we know that Elon wanted to use Twitter to greatly affect the 2024 election by pushing misinformation.
