Story I know was Robert Downey Jr inviting him after consulting him on how to play Tony.

To be fair you weren't alone, and his image was carefully marketed back then. If he had been acting like he is now all along people would never have thought so highly of him.

No, you were working with the evidence available at the time.

    There is more evidence now.

Smart people change their mind as conflicting information comes into play. Cultists pick the person who tweets the loudest and never change their mind for any reason.

Twitter has officially shit the proverbial brick.

Mere days after big accounts posted their earnings from Twitter, we now have hundreds if not thousands of blue checkmark accounts posting tweets that are nothing more than a string of "trending" buzzwords with outrage clickbait images. Twitter is quickly sliding down to being nothing more than an outrage farm for money from accounts in impoverished countries. I really pray some kind of legitimate twitter clone comes along quickly.

wait, people will try to game the algorithm with the most garbage content ever? shocking

it's almost like this is a huge topic that's been discussed for like, at least a decade and that content creators on platforms like youtube have discussed how it incentivizes all kinds of bad content that ages poorly because if they're not playing the algorithm they're actively losing money.

It's obviously stupid and even Orwellian "Brave New World"-esque to look a trending topic only to find thousands of tweets that are just

TRUMP INDICTED BIDEN CRIME FAMILY JACK SMITH FAKE ELECTORS UKRAINE RUSSIA WORLD WAR 3 FINAL FANTASY 16
I wonder how many months weeks days it will take for Elon to reconsider paying people as twitter turns into nothing but a buzzword hellscape. I'd say a buzzword hellscape that turns people away, but there are literally thousands of people liking these tweets. Many of them obviously bots, but I'm sure there are "regular" people liking these as well.

lol... They can probably cut out most of that scene anyway. Since it was just Tony/Pepper awkwardly trying to avoid having to talk to Hammer.

And the thing is, he's not actually paying anyone for impressions right now. He handpicked a small number of people and gave them arbitrary amounts of money, and claimed it's a pilot for a program that's not fully rolled out yet.

One of the few Lucas-esque post-release edits I fully endorse.

Oh for sure. He will eventually make Twitter a paid service, which will be the final nail in the coffin, sealing this formerly loved but now decayed husk of its former glory in a shallow grave.
And the same goes for Twitter.

Musk says Twitter to change logo to "X" from the bird. Changes could come as early as Monday.

Because why not just kill off the rest of the advertisers by removing all of the brand recognition?

Problem is the bird logo is incorporated into the very idea of a "tweet" so at that point it loses some of the cohesion. Also, changing the logo won't make people forget he's currently sucking up to racists, fascists, and pedophiles. No advertiser will just go "Oh, the bird is gone? Now its' okay he pays sex offenders to make content."

This is most of what I meant. But also, I mean, think about it. An "X"? All it takes to turn that into a swastika is a couple of right-leaning angles. It's too on the nose.

I think you mean the chatbot she's using to generate her replies decided to chime in.

Which is ironic considering Noel Skum blaming bots as the reason for enshittifying Twitter.

Twitter had massive brand recognition. It takes an absolute miracle to get the kind of success for twitter to become a household name around the world, and to invent a new word (or new meaning for an old word) like "Tweet".

Elon is throwing all of that away in favor of calling Twitter X, and all tweets he believe should now be called X.

It's fucking stupid. And Elon clearly has his head too far up his own ass to see what kind of a stupid move this is.

Also people not paying for twitter are quickly finding out that more and more replies to tweets are just straight up being hidden as Elon deliberately reduces engagement for non subscribers.

It's taken longer for Elon to scare everyone away than I thought it would, but I didn't really want the "Watch a train wreck in slow motion" to end either. Watching one decision after another cripple Elon's 44B deal.

It's Elon going right back to his roots. X.com was his second company, back in 1999.

X.com, the brainchild of Elon Musk, officially launched this week. You may remember Musk, 28, as the Internet wunderkind who founded Zip2 Corporation and then sold that company to Compaq Computer earlier this year for more than $300 million.

Taking advantage of new reforms in the banking industry, and innovations offered through the Internet, Musk set out to a develop a new financial services concern that marries banking and mutual fund management. The outcome of his efforts took just six months.
While it's become pretty clear that Musk's role in both Tesla and SpaceX was that of a carefully managed figurehead/investor, at least the idea of X.com was something he was personally invested in. So now that he's out floundering around on his own without the careful and talented minders who made him look like a real-life Tony Stark, he's going back to the same well and trying a "rinse, later, repeat" strategy. He's completely missing that there's nothing particularly special about "X.com" and that he's not in an early internet boom. It's little more than "Elon Musk likes naming things 'X'."

On the gripping hand, I can't help but note that if Mr. Musk were deliberately trying to not just wreck Twitter, but proverbially salt the earth of the Twitter name and brand so thoroughly that it looks like the financial equivalent of a long-term nuclear waste storage site, he would be hard pressed to do a more effective job.
