It's not going to close for sure but the perception of Twitter already changed months ago. It's now an echo chamber where people are free to spout straight lies, shut off their comments, then pay to boost their trash. Truth and criticism is buried behind paywalls and thus people have started to breakaway from Twitter as a trending news at a glance source. You could argue Twitter comments were toxic before but the algorithm actually invited challenging views and opinions as a sort of 'check and balance' system. You can't kill echo chambers but it was harder pre-Musk. A lot of people called on Twitter to get quick information about what's going on their area but it's become increasingly harder to do that since. I've seen a lot of people complain, talking about how hard it is to put their information out there even if you pay, then you better hope your users pay but what's the point if the content creator and the user don't see the value in paying?

Oh and the porn. Actual nudity and just trash in comments. So so much.

Politicians love to complain about TikTok but Twitter is actually a data and information nightmare that the politicians who whine about TikTok are the only type of people who benefit from the current Twitter landscape due there being little moderation.

Let me put it to you in simple terms even a crayon chewer can understand. Which would you prefer:
    - Random assholes having free reign to enter your home any time they chose and scream obscenities at you at all times of the day
    or
    - The blessed silence of the peace of knowing that you are protected from the above by "censorship" and laws.

Musk doesn't actually believe in free speech though. He only believes in the freedom to express his own speech. Remember how he reacted to criticism and satire when he became in charge of Twitter?

And part of free speech is being allowed to call people on their bullshit and misinformation, a concept that doesn't exactly exist on Twitter anymore.

Politics still affect them. Is the plan there soon (or probably already if we include the below 18s) to have the minority with very specific sets of interests choose those who govern so the interests of the majority can be safely ignored?

You think that is a good plan?

Nobody was saying they shouldn't be able to vote. If you're voting, you're making your voice heard and you matter in terms of representation.

Except you are more likely to not be able to find anyone that cares about the above 65s in a system that excludes the above 65s

edit: Care about the above 65s = Care about needs that might be different for above 65s

To reactionary "free speech" wanks: "free speech" means the former and only the former. When faced with the latter: they always screech "noooooo, not like that!"

Elon is unusual only in terms of owning a major platform, and thus being able to enforce it. Given the same degree of control, they would all do the same.

    Infracted.
The fact that you got all that diatribe out of what i said, not to mention assumed that i am an American is kinda ironic Also if you want to start a debate about bidens age in a musk thread, try to use the correct thread next time, to prevent being seen as trumpy troll.

And way to miss the point mate, i dont give a fuck about Biden. Sure, he is better than Trump, but that's a very low bar. Still its not the correct thread.

The kinda ironic thing is Rennadrel's post history. A very long list of complaints about forced diversity and other conspiracy theories. I'm thinking one of his relatives got a hold of his phone.

Yeah, what's so crazy about firing a gun inside a restaurant because you are "investigating" an unfounded conspiracy theory?

If you aren't shooting up restaurants because of rumours you read about on the internet...you're the crazy one.

A lot of the things you have outlined were already problems on Twitter well before Elon bought the company. Maybe it is just more apparent now and those people have become more emboldened because they know that Elon is treating them with kidgloves whereas old management would have punted them out quickly.

But it always felt like an echo chamber before, maybe it just depends on where your views are on the political spectrum though. The amount of misinformation has certainly ramped up, and it is absurd that Elon continues to allow literal genocide deniers like Jackson Hinkle to have a platform and as much reach as they do. I always felt like there's been a lot of porn on Twitter long before the change in ownership though, but the amount of porn bots was really getting out of hand. It seems to have cooled off a bit recently but that could also just be me engaging in comments less as well.

LibsOfTikTok's already sent out the call to their drones to 'boycott' Wal-Marts and accused them of promoting grooming practices.

So, predictably, I'm expecting more bomb threats and/or employee harassment towards Wal-Mart stores as seems to be the case when that miserable fuckhead points their followers at something they don't like.

I don't like the bomb threats or harassment stuff. Just wanna see either Wal-Mart or Fox News lose business.

Because of course that venomous little creep went directly to baseless accusations of CSA without preamble.

Yes, Elon silenced opposition in Erdogan's election, deemed "Cis" a slur worthy of twitter ban and also made "From the river to the sea" be considered hate speech. People overwhelmingly support censorship over free speech because they don't know what free speech is. They screech that Elon has saved free speech while he censors the people THEY want censored.

Threads bugging again, who b*tched out this time?

Personally if I were a big company I would be cutting back on Twitter adds, after all the shit Elon been doing lately
