What's it say when the world's richest man forces his employees to work off the clock and denies them the breaks he is legally required to provide them?

What's it say about you that, even after this is pointed out, you still shill for him?

If Buffet or Soros start new businesses that are successful then they are innovative and entrepreneurs as well.
They have and most of Musk's businesses including Tesla were started by other people, state one major innovation he patented.

I am stating facts about his public persona, what proof do you have he is a nice guy? his vision of the future is that the earth will no longer be viable and we need to move to Mars to slave under his leadership. What part of this do you find optimistic? for those of us who don't worship at his feet that's not a great prospect.

Not really, for the kind of businesses he creates he has to focus on pushing the limits of science/engineering in order to make sure the business is economically viable. Also, I've heard that he is a workaholic, almost to an unhealthy degree.

Engineering is just applied physics though and apparently Elon got accepted into a Ph.D. program in materials science at Stanford. But he didn't attend because he saw business opportunities that outweighed an advanced degree.

He wants a Martian society in case there's a catastrophic event like nuclear war, a new plague that is much worse than Covid, a large asteroid hitting Earth, etc. It's not because he thinks civilization is going downhill.

But he didn't create most of those businesses he bought businesses other people created because again he is an investor not a creator.

Physics is the basics that's like saying a biology major is a pretty much a doctor.

Do you not realize the contradiction in those statements? civilization is not going downhill but we will cause nuclear war, unable to handle a plague or stop a large asteroid but we will have the technology to terraform a planet and make it livable? what kind of thinking is that? Did you not think about this before typing it.

De Santis does not want Twitter in Florida.

DeSantis takes a dig at Twitter as lawmakers encourage Elon Musk to move HQ to Florida: 'Importing some tech company from San Francisco has not been high on our list'

At a press conference Monday, DeSantis said the company will bring between $15 and $20 million in profit to the state when Musk is officially the owner of the platform due to the state's investment in Twitter. But he said actually welcoming the company into the state would result in a higher cost of living for residents of the Sunshine State.

"In Florida, I think we've done very well, particularly over the last few years, attracting businesses that are producing things," DeSantis said. "Importing some tech company from San Francisco has not been high on our list. I think that what happens is they'll tend to come in, they drive up the cost of living for everybody else. Yeah, they enjoy our lower taxes but you know, what is what are they really providing?"

I think he might be a bit too late. Median rent in Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach is now as high as San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward.

"We have low taxes to attract businesses!"

"Whoa, not that kind of business."

The lack of any logical or ideological consistency from these clowns continues to impress.

He is concerned about the cost of living in Florida. Florida population boom comes at a cost. Rents in Central Florida have increased at least 20% since 2021, while in South Florida they've went up by 57%. Excluding housing, Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach CPI went up 9.8% for the 12 months ending in February.

I love how these guys are so hell bent on creating a safe space for themselves. it wouldn't be so funny if that entire state wasn't going to be under water in 20 years.

"We, from our friends, heard that [Musk] was looking for third party investors, and are we interested?," he recounted to the British newspaper. "We immediately said that we are. He didn't have a plan for Twitter. There isn't, like, a business plan. So it wasn't that type of discussion."

Not surprising from the crypto crowd, it's all about form over substance, and "if everyone thinks we're actually huge and massively successful, we'll be huge and massively successful".

More amused that he just outright said that he chatted with Musk and Musk has absolutely no plans for the business he's apparently buying. Fuckin galaxy brain shit.

Not a Musk fan, in the slightest.
He might be doing what the really smart wealthy people do.
I know shit about my car outside of driving it and filling up the tank. I can change a tire (Thanks to a lesbian friend who taught me 6 years ago), I could maybe change my oil if you held a gun to my head. It needs service/maintenance? It's out of my bailiwick. I have no problem taking it to a professional to have work done.
Musk knows shit about anything outside of "being rich". While taking his morning dump, looks in the toilet and becomes inspired. "I'm gonna buy Twitter!"
So he gets things going. Now that he's made progress, "I know nothing outside of being rich and snarky, I have enough money, I can pay someone to make it work." He thinks the more money he applies to a problem, the more likely someone who actually knows how to solve it will take the money.

Florida pension fund sues Elon Musk and Twitter to stop buyout

Elon Musk and Twitter were sued on Friday by a Florida pension fund seeking to stop Musk from completing his $44bn takeover of the social media company before 2025.

In a proposed class-action lawsuit filed in Delaware Chancery court, the Orlando police pension fund said Delaware law forbade a quick merger because Musk had agreements with other big Twitter shareholders, including his financial adviser Morgan Stanley and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, to support the buyout.

The fund said those agreements made Musk, who owns 9.2% of Twitter, the effective “owner” of more than 15% of the company’s shares. It said that required delaying the merger by three years unless two-thirds of shares not “owned” by him granted approval.

I am getting pretty confused right now.

DeSantis has valid concerns but instead of saying he doesn't want to import a large corporation from California he should just say that Florida first needs time to build more infrastructure in order to handle the population influx. It's not like Florida is close to hitting an upper limit in terms of how many people their economy could support.

Well the beach moves up a little bit each decade due the rising sea level but it's really slow. 99% of the buildings that are within 3 miles of the beach will become obsolete due to depreciation long before they are engulfed by the ocean. New coastal development will simply move up in elevation over time.
I remember watching some CBS documentary on it, saying the rich white people were leaving their beach homes and making their way inland, taking over culturally-rich, minority neighborhoods and increasing the rent there so they couldn’t afford to stay.
Okay but I think you should look at the statistics of a place before and after gentrification and then judge things based on that.

I love the sense of resignation here. "Well, if our actions cause the coastal areas to flood we'll just move inland! And then those coastal areas will flood so we'll move more inland again. And then when there's no arable land left we'll be moving off into the stars. The future is filled with infinite possibilities, none of which include humanity failing to act and making earth largely uninhabitable for our species."

    The issue is pretty severe.

Miami leads nation with 58% rent spike during the pandemic
Sun Belt cities overtook Big Tech hubs in rate hikes in past two years, report shows

Median rent in Miami - $ 2,988. Miami median rent is likely to go up some more once the current leases expire. Median rent in San Francisco - $2,982.

The median rents between the two cities are about the same with one major difference.

Miami median household income is $43,400. San Francisco is a little over $160k as of 2022.

    .
Maybe they should have voted for the infrastructure bill. Oh right they have no problem taking the money for infrastructure after they voted against it.

Problem that is going to impact Florida the most is labor and property.
Especially if the old keeps moving there and they keep pushing for restrictions on immigration.

Guess they can just keep asking for more welfare from the federal govt. right?
    Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!

Sounds like Musk's plan is to acquire Twitter, then kill Twitter: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...g-3-month.html

His plan basically boils down to get more people on Twitter Blue (monthly Twitter subscription) and triple the user count in 5 years, lmao.

I wonder, if I tell a bank that I can get 140million people on Twitter Blue and octuple Twitter's current user count in 5 years and show some graphs of upward trends, if a bank will give me a loan to beat Musk's offer, lmao.

Not surprising you like the people that doxx transpeople on Twitter, to get death threats, and even killed. Some people have committed suicide for less.

And I can guarantee that Twitter's moderation doesn't change, especially if they want to continue existing on Apple products and the EU.
