I think this would be hilarious. Though the price point on these Trucks and the slow roll on delivery. Says to me anyone serious about buying one will be long gone.

    I mean for practical use.

What is going to be left are very very rich people buying another toy. Meaning 2 to 3 years or less it’ll be just another toy. They’ve moved on from.

Me I personally swore off anything but an electric Truck. It would be expensive but an investment.

So at this point I’ll hold on to what I have.

The reasons that have put me off aside from the ever rising prices as far as practicality.

    1. The range. I keep hearing that Tesla lies about their range.

    2. Batteries replacement, reliability and performance.

    3. More recent development. With claims about the CyberTruck.

    4. It doesn’t help that Elon has turned into an Antisemitic, Transphobic, white supremacist. Any money anyone might like to spend is going to help him become richer.

Don’t get me wrong lots of companies with similar histories have problems but holy fuck it’s 2024. I realize all those things still exist but that along with someone this stupid in charge of Tesla and the richest man in the world.

Unless Tesla make some huge innovations to overcome the issues I mentioned at least technology wise. Yeah.

Teslas not going anywhere but aside from the car markets of say Lamborghini or Ferrari. I don’t see them as anything else in 10 years unless they substantiate confidence in real concerns I mentioned above performance and reliability. Price they might overcome if it’s a worthwhile investment.

Shareholders generally vote in line with the board, so "The shareholders thought it was worth it too." isn't a super surprising outcome - that's the expectation no matter what the board recommendation would be.

The issue is the independence of the board, who are supposed to be independent of the CEO and not just his cronies. In theory.

Idealistically: Because it's the right thing to do.

Practically: Because some guy is probably mad about something Elon is doing now and made a hail mary. Though at the same time it's not hard to argue that Elon's value as CEO is many orders of magnitude more than Tim Cook.
Just adding in the story posted, which once more by two more credible news sources.

Board members felt obligated to use drugs with Elon. Hello? That's cult of personality or very least the most spineless people ever. "If Elon would jump off a bridge would you?".

Plus the Board has a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders.

The worship of CEO's taking as much money from a company and the supposed every man cheering for this will never astound me.

nothing astonishing about it really. Its simply $$. They are just there to enrich themselves.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Elon Musk is not the only CEO in the world his compensation doesn't match other CEOS with similar or better performance. Do you own any stocks? most shareholders do not vote and default to the board. I barely vote in most of the companies I own stocks in, it's mostly on auto pilot that's why lawsuits like this are important because we don't pay attention.

Let's be honest, that's probably mostly just good old-fashioned peer pressure. It's not good by any stretch, but there's no need for any deeper explanation than that.

Then they are bleepin horrible board members. Once more there are stories they felt they had to use drugs with Elon. Like Holy Wtf!

I hate board holding members for many reasons. I don't want to give them credit but I expect most would, should not be this under influence of the CEO. Now Elon is the largest shareholder, idk if he can remove them. Most board members would objectively look at their position to have a competent CEO who make the other shareholders money. Once more this is me giving them the least bit of credit cause they are all scum.

Bluesky opens to the public today. I wonder if it will affect twitter share prices.

Can Musk really compete in an open market. Or is he still just the poster boy for late stage capitalism?

Gonna go with "no," because it's a private company now that has no share whose prices could be affected.

We know that X's active users number has been decreasing. In December, which generally is a good month for messaging apps, it was 84m. Down 5m from the same time last year.

Right now, the biggest threat to X is Threads. After dropping to 10m in mid 2023 from an initial sign up of 47m, it's active users base has now gone back up to 130m. It was the sixth most downloaded apps worldwide in December 2023.

Hon, private shares are still shares. Depending on how the hundreds of billions of loans were structured. Shares falling below a certain number can set off margin calls that might affect Tusk's ownership in Twitter, and other colateral like Tesla shares.

EDIT: Also, just glancing at her imdb, she's found work since then, so...yeah. Sounds like she just wants to spend money to bring herself back into the spotlight.

She found work at Ben Shapiro's The Daily Wire... making 'unwoke' films that didn't pay off. Suing Disney and hoping for a good settlement probably sounds like easy money in her mind.

Sounds more like another case of conservatives not realizing that "Freedom of Speech" does not mean freedom from consequences.

She did. She was in a western where she was the star, and I believe it grossed $80 at the box office (no missing zeroes there) and was decried as "woke" by conservative viewers because a lady shouldn't be a gun-toting protagonist.

Unsurprisingly, there's just very little demand for bad, low budget, poorly written right wing films. She's suing because she decided to make herself a possible PR liability.

Protip: If you want the big, sweet dollars from a major corporation, you generally need to avoid sensitive topics and ensure you remain 'brand-safe'. This isn't something exclusive to Carano, this is what every publicist or agent worth their salt will tell any celebrity that doesn't need the court the controversy for relevancy.

Seriously? That is so archaic. Hong Kong moviemakers with their 1985 "Girls with Guns" subgenre was so far ahead of their western counterparts. At least Gina Carano looks like she could punch a hole through a brick wall.

A bunch of the usual idiots were whining about "Cara Dune" being another Disney Mary Sue when she first appeared in Mando.

Some of them backtracked when they found out she's MAGA.
