Elon Musk sues OpenAI and Sam Altman over ‘betrayal’ of nonprofit AI mission
I'm always a skeptic.Elon Musk has sued OpenAI, its co-founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, and its affiliated entities, alleging the ChatGPT makers have breached their original contractual agreements by pursuing profits instead of the nonprofit’s founding mission to develop AI that benefits humanity.
Musk, a co-founder and early backer of OpenAI, claims Altman and Brockman convinced him to help found and bankroll the startup in 2015 with promises it would be a nonprofit focused on countering the competitive threat from Google. The founding agreement required OpenAI to make its technology “freely available” to the public, the lawsuit alleges.
Elon Musk’s AI startup that hopes to leapfrog OpenAI is halfway to its goal of landing $1 billion in funding
So I remember stories of awhile ago of Elon saying we should pause AI when he was developing and funding AI. So right here I leaned to he wanted his competitors to pause while he could jump ahead in the AI race. I think this is so.
So is Elon altruistic? He think AI should be open world, but none of his battery tech? Maybe it's not an apples to apples and yes AI on a whole new level. But cmon! This dude just wants to monopolize it, right?

Ironically openai is what you should hate if you hate fascism. Fuckers started as open source collecting donations and benefits of a nonprofit and then flipped to closed source for profit while still using the nice fellows brand image. The equivalent of a communal project taken over by totalitarian regime.
I think you meant millions. At least so he claimed.
Elon Musk used to say he put $100M in OpenAI, but now it’s $50M: Here are the receipts
Years of tax filings give the most complete picture yet of OpenAI’s early finances
The verifiable number based on Techcrunch investigation was closer to $15M.
He was on the board. Since he left, I don't think he legally has any say on the direction of OpenAI.

The total donation to OpenAi was around $150m. Chump change by Bay Area start up investment standard.
To keep making progress they needed the financing from Microsoft and convert partially to for profit with cap. Nvidia A100 chip cost around $10k each. Cerebras' which is the size of a dinner plate is around $2M a piece. The salary of a software engineer at OpenAi (including PPU) is around $900k. $150m does not last long.

They're really desperate to get Putin's favorite puppet back into office, and it'll totally be Democrat's fault because we don't want a Russian puppet running our country and that makes Putin very sad. This is the 21st century cold war.

You'd think he wouldn't want attention from a guy who calls himself Cat Turd, but here we are.
I said this a long time ago in this thread but it bears repeating:
When Musk went on Rogan and pretended to smoke weed he realized that there's actually a group of people in the world who might think he's cool, and he's spent the better part of a decade and tens of billions of dollars trying to impress them.
