I've never sent a Tweet in my life. I get the same stuff Rustedsaint does. I suspect it might be because we're Canadian and there's different rules on advertising up here.

Also Canadian. I only follow a few comic artists and some metal bands. That’s what I mostly see on my front page. I occasionally get a few questionable ads like some crypto or oil/gas propaganda. I’m not receiving an egregious amount of either.

I live in the US, every single day transphobic, bigoted, racist and just general awful content is shoved in my face on the For You page. I do not interact with the posts, don't click on them, don't like them, nothing, I block them. And then every day I have to block 20-30 more accounts. Elon is absolutely shoving conservative outrage politics on anyone using Twitter in the USA, probably signal boosting conservative voices.

I knew that he was going to do this on election year. He absolutely wants to put his thumb on the scales of politics. I imagine when he finally loses twitter we'll discover just how much he fucked with the algo to boost conservative voices.

I didn't click anything to see this stuff, and my account follows almost nothing. The site has gone to the dogs. How ANY advertiser continues to spend there, I do not know.

Actually that you don't follow much and you haven't logged in in a while is the reason you are seeing that because that is probably what is trending in general.

I only use the 'Following' tab these days. 'For You' is an absolute dumpster fire to be avoided at all costs.

I follow a lot of stuff of a certain kind (not porn) and 'for you' is actually good for me, it's 98% people I follow and interact with the most that is shown, so for me it is actually better than 'following' - the remaining 2% is stuff/people related to my interest not random stuff.

Considering they're saying it's filled with blue checks and Elon, I'm guessing it's the default "for you" curation for people that don't use twitter a whole lot

I would say for frequent users the twitter feed actually works well since the algorithm does seem to work - I wouldn't give elom any credit for this though.

I logged into Twitter for the first time since Musk bought it today. Only reason I did so was because I was entering a sweepstake that required a Twitter follow.

Immediately after logging in, I see these things front and centre:

1. A post from Elon Musk's account at the very top, showing Harambe and Doge. I don't follow Musk.
2. A video showing a naked guy skydiving with his junk flapping in the wind and clearly visible.
3. A topless pic from an Onlyfans operator.
4. A bunch of people dancing, including women with very visible breasts.

I didn't click anything to see this stuff, and my account follows almost nothing. The site has gone to the dogs. How ANY advertiser continues to spend there, I do not know.

Shocking stuff.

judging from my feed, all the Ads are Chiitan (japanese mascot), bulk sellers that all have community notes explaining they are scams, and RW political ads.
Now ANY tweet I click is either a flood of unrelated replies, or a flood of onylfans accounts trying to make a statement somewhat related to the OP post while also saying "look at me"

I cant remember the late time I saw an ad from any company Ive heard of.

These days it's an almost non stop deluge daily, and the only reason I'm even still on twitter is because I still get news and posts from those other interests. But I make heavy use of the block button.
