    vá para o Brasil!

Thursday is going to funny. I wonder if Elon and his army of incel nerds have realized this. But the NFL opener on Thursday is in <check notes> Sao Paulo, Brazil. Thats a huge audience.

Going to be rough for all of the journos making the trek down there. Can they go cold turkey on twitting the game? Will it Striesand effect Elos shenanigans in Brazil?

    So is the Trabant.

I have a Rav4 and I love the thing so much. Know you're talking about a different Toyota. But I got a chuckle whenever I see an old Toyota Rav4 and parked next to it. It's like Mini Me standing next to Dr Evil.

So in addition to breaking his own sites rules and posting weirdo AI generated images because he can't stop thinking about Kamala, I didn't realize people making fun of his "high-value male" thing were being serious in that he took it from 4chin. I assume it was a joke and not like...literally true.

Though Elon shitposting in /pol/ is incredibly, painfully on-brand for the idiot.

Damn, it's almost like Elon is a bullshit dumbass liar. Anyways, fun stuff!

Posting here even though it has some run in the Election thread.

Elon is such a bitch. This post somehow gets a warning, I bet not for Nazi image but of Elon and Trump kissing.

Now here is the link from Anonymous account. Idk who this person is.

    https://x.com/YourAnonNews/status/1830734961038524864

Umm on the original post I don't see the Warning, so idk if this is/was private to just the account holder? I looked for the original post in the account, again idk who this person is, but I didn't do a super deep dive.

So maybe take it with a grain of salt depends on if that warning is public or private to people.

Yeah as much as I dislike Elon and how much of right wing shithole X has turned into, its kind of a bad precedent to ban a social media company like this

    Explain why, please.

Because it seems the only way to hold this opinion is to do so by remaining wholly ignorant of the entire situation and just accepting Elon's word at face-value which...is an omega-level ooph in the year of our lord 2024.

The real counterpoint here is that it exposes a cultural conversation around freedom and who gets it to do what.

And then as a side note, it delegitimizes a judge like this in the eyes of the world.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time." "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I'd say the counterpoint is that it highlights how different nations handle freedom of speech and the responsibilities it carries, personally. Considering laws surrounding free speech are fairly different between countries, with America being in the far more expansive end of things.

But I'm unsure why the "legitimacy" of the judge globally matters? They are a Brazilian judge, what people in South Africa or Peru or the United States or Lithuania thinks of them is irrelevant.

Also, I'm unsure how the judge could be "deligitimized" when the Brazilian Supreme Court panel unanimously upheld the decision of Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

Edit: To add further context - https://english.elpais.com/internati...vernments.html

Under Elon Musk, Twitter has approved 83% of censorship requests by authoritarian governments
It very much doesn't seem to be a matter of "freedom" in any regard.

He’s withholding evidence under Brazilian law. Fuck all to do with free speech, it’s simply brazenly breaking the law in a country in which he chose to operate. There aren’t exceptions for being a social media company, a billionaire or pal of the former dictator.

As someone who has admitted he supported Trump's calls to close down social media companies like Facebook, because people were telling the actual truth, do you feel like that delegitimizes your attempts to call out a judge in Brazil?

    It's a bad precedent to respect a country's laws?

They're banned for not having a legal representative that the courts/government can interact with inside Brazil, that's all there is to this.

Had Elon not closed the Brazilian office, it'd still be live.

Because........................? Twitter wasn't following their laws and now consequences happen. It's that simple.

It doesn't look like you know what delegitimize even means, their courts upheld the decision.

Don't abide by the laws of a nation, you don't get to keep doing business in that nation. It's not that complicated, and it has fuck-all to do with "freedom".

Which is weird that he wouldn't respond to lawful requests from Brazilian authorities considering he's been happy to censor the hell out of his platform in response to request from authoritarian regimes, defending his actions publicly by acknowledging that complying with local laws is indeed the cost of doing business in various countries.

Just weird that he prioritizes those considerably smaller authoritarian governments laws to comply with and not the laws of one of the country that is one of the largest group of users on his platform.
