Also because the 4chan kids aren't professionals who will go "we can't do that because X" or "this is a terrible idea because Y". They're wholly dependent on Elon's favor for their post and will do whatever he says without misgivings borne out of experience or having things to lose.

A consortium led by Elon Musk said on Monday it has offered $97.4 billion to buy the nonprofit that controls OpenAI, another salvo in the billionaire's fight to block the artificial intelligence startup from transitioning to a for-profit firm.
More thinks keep falling into place and making sense.

Musk's bid is likely to ratchet up longstanding tensions with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman over the future of the startup at the heart of a boom in generative AI technology. Altman on Monday promptly posted on X: "no thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want."
Why yes I do love billionaire executives beefing on social media. What a stupid fucking time to be alive.

Musk is about to kill western LLMs. Well what he likely wants to do is control OpenAI then use legislation to ban all competitors like DeepSeek, even American offshoots, citing security concerns.

    Nah.

Just tell Elon they will do a like for like exchange of Tesla, Starlink, SpaceX, Neurolink, xAI, his entire crypto collection and the like along with 49.9% shares of OpenAI after the deal has gone through along with the ability to vote out Musk that cannot be challenged in court and cannot be diminished by bringing on more investors.

Really make him actually have to lose mostly everything in order to get it.

    Again, can't ban DeepSeek altogether.

Lock them in a room together.

I'm still fuckin pissed we never got the Zuckerberg X Musk fight that we were promised.

Seriously, those two talked such mad highschool level shit to each other and then neither one of them shows up to throw hands with the cameras rolling for our entertainment.

Why do we give a shit about "most people using their phones" when it comes to the future of commercial AI in the US?

That's government devices only, which is all they can really do. Won't stop employees from having it on their personal devices, even.

You have to follow the policy if you use your personal device to sign onto government networks. So you either lock up up your device or comply. Some people are given a separate device, so the policy doesn't mean much to them. Others aren't allowed devices, so it means nothing to them. You're SoL if you're someone who is using their personal device. I know a lot of people haven't worked for government or agencies that work adjacent to government but maybe in college you device(s) might have had to conform to campus IT when you sign on to you're campus network. Thats how the bans are enforced.

And that still only matters if you're using their front end app/website. If you're running it locally or set up your own server from the open source files, you don't really have to worry about that.

Again, Elon Musk genuinely isn't very bright, genuinely has no idea how most things work, and his entire supergenius engineer persona is a tech press-enabled mythology (they've never been held accountable for)...

Some day... some rogue poster... is going to necro those "elon is a genius" threads. Instead of the wierd beef with 3 posters and 2 mods threads.

Does...Elon not know what the fuck SQL is? I haven't worked in the proper tech industry for like 10+ years and I remember having to do presentations on the difference between SQL and non-SQL data and the use of Hadoop and shit.

I'm a fucking word person, not a fucking software engineer.

Oh my god, it's going to turn out that there isn't a single field where his valor isn't entirely stolen, isn't it?

Bet we're gonna have to append "Oh, he just fucking sucks at everything he does" to the end of the "I don't know about [topic], so I assumed he was good" copypasta by the end of this, huh.

I love that the MySQL page literally has the Social Security Administration as a use case:

Well, I mean, people that say "Sequel" are wrong, and pronouncing every letter is the objectively correct way to say SQL

I thought it was "squeal"? That's how Primeagen says it on the clips that The Algorithm has fed me.

No, squealing is what the data scientists do when their query finally stops returning errors
