So, in some news that will probably delight Musk haters(this includes me), since Musk has gone on his rampage throughout the government and he did his "special gesture", his net worth has dropped by a lot.
How much? Well, since Jan 21(stock market was closed on Jan 20th due to a federal holiday), Tesla stock price has dropped around 96 points. Which means his actual net worth has dropped a bit over $40 billion. That is right. this man has lost nearly 10% of everything he is worth because of what he is doing and it is continuing to drop because he is absolutely hated around the world right now due to the closing down of USAID and tampering in European elections.
He has lost more wealth in a bit over 2 weeks than what is the entirety of the GDP of Honduras. That takes real skill to do that.
I feel obligated to point out for the non-techies that this isn't what de-duplication is or does.
De-duplication essentially works by storing data once rather than storing the same thing many times, meaning it only takes up less space (i.e. a de-duped disk would store 100 copies of a file once, instead of keeping 100 copies on disk that each taking up the same amount of space).
It has the square root of fuck all to do with enabling or blocking people from registering a SSN more than one time. A database being deduped or not deduped is mostly about storage efficiency. The fact he thinks the two are related means he objectively has no fucking idea what he is talking about.

Basically, that old tweet about the guy who knew nothing about cars or rockets and assumed Elon was as smart as everyone said he was. And then Elon started talking about coding and the guy, as a software engineer, realized he had no fucking clue what the fuck he was talking about and consequently that he probably also didn't know fuckall about cars or rockets, either.
Americans love a bullshiter more than anything else.
It really shines a light on how fucking broken both our system of Government and system of Economics is where someone this fucking stupid can achieve so much wealth and influence through the sheer momentum of having money.
i mean, it's capitalism
he made some bets that worked well (apparently his spacex bet almost didn't).
the whole thing is stupid and it's why i laugh when i read glowing articles about VCs who "know the right companies to invest in" because they invested in a startup that got bit.
literally VCs superpower and edge is being able to play the odds/field, that's it. You invest in 100 startups and 95 will probably fail, but you'll never hear about those failures. 2 might perform reasonably well, 2 might perform very well, but 1 hits it huge and that one alone more than recoups all your failed bets. now, you get to do a round of interviews about how you're a visionary that saw the potential in this 1 company and how you're an investing genius! and not that you simply basically played a game of roulette that's fairly stacked in your favor.
There was a bit in Musk's autobiography about this; it details a game of Poker where Musk kept losing hand after hand after hand... Then finally won once, got up, and left. That's kinda just how this shit goes, and by having more money than god you can take more stupid risks over and over again and shield yourself from the consequence of failure.

Also despite all the contract and spending freezes going on, there's -one- company who's still getting paid. Take a wild fucking guess which one.
I go back and forth, though I think I generally use "SQL" when using it as a noun, or when stressing it (like "I fracking hate Ess-Cue-Ell!") and "sequel" when using it as an adjective (like "sequel backend") or when it's part of a larger combined word (like "SQLite" being "Sequel-ite").

and genius is that genius has its limits."
