At the first meeting with the Cabinet, Trump welcomed tech billionaire Elon Musk, head of the administration's cost-cutting team called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), who said federal workers should expect another email in an effort to figure out if workers exist.

"We're going to send another email," Musk said.

Trump called Musk's push "a good idea because, you know, those people, as I said before, they're on the bubble," he said. About half the federal workforce did not reply to initial emails sent over the weekend.
Bringing the startup mentality that causes 90% of startups to fail to the government, baby.

Waste the time of your entire workforce because you have a dogshit boss who doesn't know how to do their job, baby. Just countless billions in wages wasted typing up emails that will just be fed into an ai system and probably otherwise ignored.

It's just terrible management, simple as.

Big, "If I can't see it, it doesn't exist." energy from this crowd.

So, on the subject of Musk and that bullet point email, here is one that he actively shown that was sent to him.

    https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1894548030306541882

I won't quote it because it is very graphic. However, he is right, it is only 4 things and he did ask for 5. But that is the type of emails that they are getting and will continue to get since they put out the HR email address for everyone to see.

didn't they sent it from an external email address anyways? I thought the doge lads weren't even really using government systems, just private hardware and networks plugged in/connected to classified and secret government networks because there are no concerns about cybersecurity whatsoever.

Baron is genius at the cyber.

Anyways, I hope the email address gets signed up for all those spam lists and becomes completely unusable. And every email they try this with afterwards, too. Note: Don't do this yourself, I believe it's against the law. But I wouldn't be sad if it got spammed to unusability.

Oh, it is the official inside government email that comes from OPM. It is considered an external address because it isn't from the department that someone belongs to unless they are from OPM.

HR@opm.gov is what it is and yes, that is a legit email address. And yes, pretty much they have been getting nonstop just everything and anything.

That is not the point of this exercise. THere is no interest to manage. The interest is clearly to intimidate. To make life as an employee in any public service awful. The goal is to dismantle the government either directly or by making it as inefficient as possible so you can point to poor results when you try to privatize it down the line.

It's the 80's all over again, except without the thin veneer of competence and respectability that Thatcher and Reagan had. I assume the results will be similar, massive gains for the richer among us who get to profit from mass privatization and big Ls for the majority who sit on the sidelines and see their civil service become as ineffective as possible and their purchasing power bled dry as some among them clap like seals because they paid a couple hundred less in taxes so that means it must be going great.

That depends on whether or not you're young enough to be picked up and carried around as a human shield against snipers.

As I do not want to go wildly off topic in the other thread. Take that here. Where Elon's behavior at X can be discussed on topic.

Cmon Elon buy mmo-champion and then proceed buying the other holy cow of political correctness Reddit.

    https://www.businessinsider.com/elon...-rising-2024-9

Under Musk's leadership, X has suspended over four times as many accounts in the first half of 2024 — 5.3 million — as Twitter ever did during similar periods. According to its transparency reports at the time, Twitter suspended almost 873,000 accounts in the last half of 2019. That number grew to about 1.3 million account suspensions in the latter half of 2021.
    You were saying?

    "But Kath, it says,
The recent suspensions were related to child safety, abuse or harassment, and misleading identities, according to X.
    "

Yeah, that is a worthwhile reason to ban an account. I agree.

    What about,
X also suspended journalist Ken Klippenstein's account after he published a 271-page dossier on JD Vance, Trump's running mate in the 2024 election. An X spokesperson told CNN that Klippenstein's suspension was triggered because it included the candidate's home address and part of his Social Security number.

Musk endorsed Trump and has been rumored to be in the running for a cabinet position should Trump ultimately win.

Though he has branded himself a free-speech absolutist, Musk has repeatedly capitulated to government demands to moderate the platform more heavily. After months of refusing to comply with a Supreme Court order in Brazil to remove accounts it deemed dangerous to its democracy, for instance, X finally acquiesced last week after hefty fines and a nationwide ban. Musk has also agreed to government requests for account takedowns in Turkey and India.
Sooooo about that free speech. Sounds like Elon folds as easily as the dollars waved in front of him.

Been the case since he almost immediately started bowing to the censorship demands of authoritarians while getting Twitter shut down in Brazil for purely performative reasons because he doesn't like following the law.

Dozens of tesla go up in flames at French dealership.

Unknown whether this was "Teslas just gonna Tesla: and self ignite.

    OR some kind of protest.

Or a standard bust-out scheme because the insurance is worth more than the cars.

Probably the best thing to happen to that dealership since the cars aren't selling.

Elon Musk is claiming that the Department of Government Efficiency isn’t actually behind the sweeping cuts to the federal workforce, instead placing the blame on the agency heads who order the firings.

Republican Representative Derrick Van Orden told CNN that during a private meeting with GOP lawmakers Wednesday, Musk told the group that the recently announced elimination of more than 70,000 jobs at the Department of Veterans Affairs “wasn’t a DOGE decision.”

The Wisconsin Republican said that Musk had told lawmakers that the “individual departments” had made their own plans to cut positions and that DOGE had made the “assumption” that those departments intended to “reward the people that are being productive.”
After weeks of taking personal credit for the mass-firings, Elon is suddenly claiming he had nothing to do with all of that chaos now that it's incredibly unpopular and he's learning about how terrible, awful and no-good of an idea it was.

Republicans continue to be the dumbest people on the face of the planet.

I expect Musk to try to mess with FAA after his rocket blew up similarly to the one before it. Assuming the FAA hasnt already been gutted. You don't get to repeat the same catastrophic mistake when it comes launching these extremely large and potentially dangerous rockets.

Elon Musk on Joe Rogan podcast:

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/05/polit...oge/index.html

“We’ve got civilizational suicidal empathy going on,” Musk said, borrowing the term from Gad Saad, a Canadian scholar who is also a frequent Rogan host.

While Musk said he believes in empathy and that “you should care about other people,” he also thinks it’s destroying society.

“The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit,” Musk said. “There it’s they’re exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.”
So Elon Musk thinks that Empathy is the enemy of western civilization. Anyway what do you have to say about that, psychologist who was tasked with studying the defendants at the Nuremberg trials and finding out the common thread that linked all true dyed-in-the-wool Nazis together?

“In my work with the defendants (at the Nuremberg Trails 1945-1949) I was searching for the nature of evil and I now think I have come close to defining it. A lack of empathy. It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants, a genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow men. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.”
    - Captain G. M. Gilbert, the Army psychologist assigned to watching the defendants at the Nuremberg trials
“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”
    Diary of Anne Frank
    January 13, 1943
