I expect Musk to try to mess with FAA after his rocket blew up similarly to the one before it. Assuming the FAA hasnt already been gutted. You don't get to repeat the same catastrophic mistake when it comes launching these extremely large and potentially dangerous rockets.

Elon Musk on Joe Rogan podcast:

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/05/polit...oge/index.html

“We’ve got civilizational suicidal empathy going on,” Musk said, borrowing the term from Gad Saad, a Canadian scholar who is also a frequent Rogan host.

While Musk said he believes in empathy and that “you should care about other people,” he also thinks it’s destroying society.

“The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy, the empathy exploit,” Musk said. “There it’s they’re exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.”
So Elon Musk thinks that Empathy is the enemy of western civilization. Anyway what do you have to say about that, psychologist who was tasked with studying the defendants at the Nuremberg trials and finding out the common thread that linked all true dyed-in-the-wool Nazis together?

“In my work with the defendants (at the Nuremberg Trails 1945-1949) I was searching for the nature of evil and I now think I have come close to defining it. A lack of empathy. It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants, a genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow men. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.”
    - Captain G. M. Gilbert, the Army psychologist assigned to watching the defendants at the Nuremberg trials
“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”
    Diary of Anne Frank
    January 13, 1943

The irony, of course, is that I would have exactly zero empathy for him if he should suffer an...unfortunate hot lead-related accident.

Considering how the right loves to go "so much for the tolerant left" when we dont quietly let them be assholes, or snap and act like they do to them.
What Musk said makes more sense.
The right loves to exploit people's urge to be a better person so they can act terrible and have something more to attack someone on.

And since they dont have empathy, they can only think everyone is like them, not actually caring, but wiling to use that idea to manipulate others.
"Law and Order", lots of places have had that, Russia, North Korea, Saddam's Iraq.
Laws can be made to enforce order of cruelty and brutality.
Equality and Justice, that is how you have peace and a society that benefits all.

Where have I heard this before about empathy?

Oh yeah, when the Episcopalisn Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde basically told Trump to his face to think about how his actions will cause harm to others before doing it. And a one Deacon Ben Garrett basically said she was committing the "sin of empathy". I didn't realize that Empathy was one of the 7 deadly sins.

I believe they are Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Apathy, Wrath, Envy and Pride.

I don't see Empathy on there anywhere.

Empathy is a sin if you are a sociopath.

After weeks of taking personal credit for the mass-firings, Elon is suddenly claiming he had nothing to do with all of that chaos now that it's incredibly unpopular and he's learning about how terrible, awful and no-good of an idea it was.

Republicans continue to be the dumbest people on the face of the planet.
This is all to avoid and deflect civil, and piss bly criminal liability in the future.

The initial firings gave poor performance as a cause, even though performance wasn't the reasoning, it was they simply did a search on probationary employees, and fired them.

This will be a massive lawsuit, and it's one that the federal government may not win. At the very least, you will have a discovery phase, and so many congressional hearings, that Musk and the DOGE idiots will be testifying for years.

Why do you think Musk got a bunch of young college kids. If he needs to they will get thrown under the bus real fast.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

    https://www.wired.com/story/gsa-sale-cia-facility/

    https://archive.is/soQ9B

A now-deleted list containing hundreds of US government properties that the General Services Administration (GSA) plans to sell includes most of a sprawling, highly sensitive federal complex in Springfield, Virginia, that also houses a secretive Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) facility, WIRED has learned.

The GSA’s effort to sell hundreds of US government properties is part of a blunt reshaping of the federal government and its workforce led by Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Staffed in part by young engineers with no prior experience in government, DOGE’s efforts have resulted in mass reductions in force, the effective shuttering of entirely independent agencies, and a flurry of lawsuits that seek to mitigate DOGE’s razing of the government over the past six weeks.

The GSA published the list on Tuesday and pulled it down the next day. Before the full list of 443 properties was removed, more than 120 properties had already been quietly scrubbed, including 14 buildings that did not appear to be listed in the Inventory of Owned and Leased Properties, a comprehensive public database of GSA holdings.

Most of these properties, aside from one identified only as “Building A, 6810,” were labeled as either “Butler” or “Franconia.” According to public records, all of them are part of a large federal facility known as the Parr-Franconia Warehouse Complex, or the GSA Warehouse, which sits, fenced in by chain-link topped with barbed wire, at 6810 Loisdale Road in Springfield.

Most of the buildings in the complex, which dates back to the early 1950s and is dominated by a 1,005,602-square-foot warehouse long used as a government supply depot, are believed to be used by various government agencies for mundane purposes. Right in the middle of the complex, though, next to the warehouse and catty-corner to what’s listed as Transportation Security Administration headquarters, is a U-shaped building long notorious for its alleged ties to the CIA.
Elon and the DOGE lads, who are collectively incompetent, have now exposed the locations of dozens of secret CIA buildings, including potential blacksites in the US.

Remind me why Republicans are trusted on matters of national security, again?

I'm not remotely convinced they'd get "the highest bidder" given their competency, in general.

When they are done with their vision the heap of junk won't be worth much to begin with, but I assure you it is the greatest deal ever made, no other deal will ever come close to it in all of history

Canadian officials are investigating an unusual spike in Tesla vehicle sales that coincided with the suspension of the federal EV rebate program in January. Over a three-day period, Tesla reported selling 8,600 vehicles at four locations across the country, resulting in $43 million in government rebates.

One Tesla location in Toronto reported more than 1,200 sales on January 11 alone, accounting for $4 million in rebates. These figures have raised concerns among industry analysts, who question whether the registrations were legitimate or whether Tesla knew about the rebate program’s impending pause.

The Canadian Automobile Dealers Association has urged Transport Canada to investigate, citing potential misuse of the rebate system. Attempts to reach Tesla for comment have gone unanswered.

The federal EV rebate program, facilitating over 500,000 electric vehicle purchases since its inception, was paused on January 13, 72 hours after the government signaled its potential suspension. Officials are now reviewing the Tesla sales data to determine if any irregularities occurred during the program’s final days.

I've been saying this for awhile, the right is a bunch of sociopaths who lack empathy for their fellow man, but in the liberal society we've built, empathy is a core tenet for peace and prosperity, to understand where someone you might disagree with is coming from, to understand their point of view and to compromise because you understand their fervent desires.

The right sees empathy as a sickness, something that makes us "weak", they believe we should be trampling the weak underfoot, not making deals with them to help them. So they exploit people's empathy through civility politics. The right is typically not openly violent because they know open violence is bad. But they vie for power over the state because the state has a monopoly on violence, the state is the only power who is authorized to use violence to solve problems. And so they advocate for state sanctioned violence more and more, gradually pushing us to fascism. That is the ultimate goal, the rewrite the laws of a liberal democracy into the laws of a fascist dictatorship and they get people on their side by PRETENDING to be the civil ones, the ones who "just want to debate" the merits of genocide, ethnonationalism, and eugenics. It's how they get stupid people on their side. "You know, they make a pretty good point about hispanics and crime, and while no hispanics have ever committed violence or crime against me, the news cycle flashes all of these immigrants committing crimes in front of my face every day, so I probably should be scared of them and support state sanctioned eugenics for my own safety!"

I bet we'll never hear anything about it ever again.
And if that happens (or in this case, doesn't happen), I've completely lost the confidence that bad people will eventually get what they deserve.

It can't get much more obvious than this.
You literally have hostiles trying to drain money from you.

I'm just glad people are willing to key/destroy swasticars whenever they see it - which is another reason as to why these sales never happened. If they haven't sold these units before, right now it's even less likely with all the videos going around how Tesla's are currently "getting it" from the general public.
