And more in the ongoing fallout of Republicans realizing their extremist positions may play well with their most vocal base, but are generally very unpopular once you leave that base and start getting to average voters.

More and more Republicans are trying to rewrite their extremist positions on abortion to appeal to moderate voters for the general election. Just a reminder that Republicans are spineless cowards who don't have any real "closely held" beliefs and will happily change their tune to whatever will get them elected before going right back to their extremism.

Don't. Trust. Republicans. They. Lie. To. You.

To be fair, being cowards whose views change conveniently with the blowing of the wind (or what it takes to get elected) is just a feature of being a politician. What's remarkable is how quickly it's happening in this case. It took Dems like a decade to come around on the issue of gay marriage. It took these fuckers 2 months to start pretending they don't view women as breeding stock.

Time wasn't what made the Democrats come around on gay marriage, it was the Supreme Court taking the issue out of their hands entirely where it being legalized was no longer something they could use as a political football.

Even if they disliked it, they knew a good portion of their voters supported it and so while they could get away with saying they supported it without pushing for it, they couldn't say they supported it while actively working against it. So they just jumped on being vocal about something they didn't accomplish but couldn't rollback politically.

Doubt the current Supreme Court will stumble into doing whats right like that one did. This one seems to be fighting to do see how much of a monster they can turn this nation back into which will require the politicians and the public to actively defy them the entire way.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

    No Sweatie,
I know it's hard for some people to imagine politics before 2015.... But a lot of people were doing the work back before then.
A number of Dem controlled states had passed laws allowing same sex
    marriage years before Obergefell.
Years before that, then Mayor Newsom and other dem officials were issuing same-sex marriage certificates.

This is what forced the issue.

The whole point of Obergefell, were that Obergefell and Arthur were already married in MAryland. Ohio, and Kasich would not recognize their rights when they moved to Ohio.

By the time of the Obergefell ruling, same-sex marriage had already been established by statute, court ruling, or voter initiative in thirty-six states.

Some day, you might come around on pre-2015 history! /joke

And primarily funded from out of state, mostly by the Mormons, through "think of the children" TV-ad campaigns. I can still remember their commercials.
"Oh no! I'll have to explain two daddies to my 5 year old! Why would you do that to children?!?!"
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

Remember the lady in TX that got a ticket for driving in the carpool lane while pregnant? Well, that ticket was dismissed apparently.

And she's been cited again. Gonna be interesting to see what happens on this, this remains a whole new area of law to be explored.

Worth noting she's now given birth so this likely won't happen again. At least unless she gets pregnant and decides to continue using the carpool lane while driving by herself.

She has to be careful, she's driving her eggs and uterus around.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect. There is nothing more or else to it, and there never has been, in any place or time. --Frank Wilhoit

Yeah, this has always been a bit of a strange area of law, but for a long time it seemed like everyone just kinda agreed to be reasonable about it.

Now that's out the window, so I guess we gotta litigate every damn thing. Again.

Men's rights activists think that the world is biased towards women, or that it's "a woman's world".

These people really DO live in a different universe. I have to wonder what color the sky is on their planet.

Minnesota Republican Rep. Tom Emmer managed Sunday to alienate a vast swath of humanity with a jaw-dropping attack, calling abortion rights “Chinese genocide.”
Uh...what? Is this just an excuse for some casual xenophobia or something? Anyways, let's dig deeper into his thoughts.

Emmer falsely claimed the bill would have “allowed abortion up to moments before a child takes its first breath.”
This is not accurate. We all know this, but it's just worth highlighting once more that Republican extremism relies on these dishonest lies.

It’s unclear what Emmer meant by “Chinese genocide”
Preach, HuffPo, because I'm still confused as fuck. There's arguably genocide going on in China, but that's with the Uyghur people and has nothing to do with the US House or Senate.

He added: “If Democrats want to make abortion the main issue when every poll we have seen says that the economy and the cost of living is the number one issue, good luck to them trying to defend their extreme position.”
I mean...current data shows that girls/women's right to bodily autonomy is a pretty winning topic for Democrats overall. And that the extremist positions of Republicans are pretty damned unpopular, what with many of them scrubbing their historically extremist views from their websites and social media as they enter the general and need to appeal to moderates.

    As a reminder -

Deep red Kansas voted overwhelmingly early last month to keep abortion rights in the state constitution. Elsewhere, pro-choice candidates have grabbed unexpected primary wins. Democrat Pat Ryan, a champion of reproductive rights, won a special election for Congress in upstate New York last month that had been fiercely targeted by Republicans.

There's a couple things it could be. A reference to that "only one child" thing that China was pretty notorious for a while back. He wanted to say "communist" because everyone knows that communism is Satanic atheism, and everyone knows that Satanic atheists love to kill (and eat) babies...but "Chinese" just slipped out instead.

Know what ties directly into economic issues? How many people one is responsible for. Having an unwanted child can easily ruin someone financially. These people are so short sighted.

I keep saying those who want to impose forced birth onto people should be forced to pay out of pocket themselves for the care of the mother and child until said child is 18 years of age. Start sending bills to those who want to do that. Figure it wouldn't take long to drain them off all their money.

They need to put their money where their mouth is.

As George Carlin put it the republican motto is "If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked"

SC Republicans remove exceptions for rape and incest from their abortion ban bill.

Just a reminder of how extremist Republican positions continue to be while those campaigning for office this cycle and furiously deleting and trying to pretend that they never publicly supported similar extremist positions.

Also as a reminder, every poll done that I've ever seen on the topic, nationally and at state-levels, shows that this is a deeply unpopular, extremist position. And that even amongst Republicans this kind of extremist position rarely even achieves a plurality of support.

That initial case rocked. I laughed so hard and then started to wonder why the lump of cells in her womb was a living person according to only the penal code.
