Nearly everyone is a "sheep", and there are very few "wolves" in our society, for as much as the right and hustle culture claim that they are. I at least know and acknowledge where my own belief structure stems from, and it's a bit more complex than just a simple set of talking points. I see it's the same for many on the liberal side as well. While they hold the same general set of beliefs, there's lots of variance and disagreement, especially among the socialist and liberal sect of the "left".

I think my general overall point though, having acknowledged the above, is that I see very few right wingers deviate from a set script. It's the same words in the same order no matter what. No nuanced takes, no extrapolation that conveys a true understanding of the subject matter they push, just a simple regurgitation of talking points they heard from someone else smarter than them. And trust me, I used "smarter" there very lightly.

Seeing the words of Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, Matt Walsh, Andy Ngo, Tim Poole, and a bunch of other pedophiles on the right, plastered all over twitter (and occasionally, these forums) copy pasted almost word for word gets to be really really really really really boring, and most sane people would be smart enough to not engage them. They can't debate for a shit. The instant you challenge their words on an even surficial level, they either start crying "LOOK IT UP I'M RIGHT" or start throwing out insults. It's never been worth it.

The lunatic fringe has taken over the Republican party. Even some GOP representatives think so.

GOP lawmaker decries state bill that could execute a woman over an abortion

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) on Tuesday decried a South Carolina bill that would criminalize abortion as a homicide and allow women who undergo the procedure to become eligible for the death penalty in the state, criticizing the GOP for not finding a more middle-ground approach to the contentious issue.

“There were 21 members of the South Carolina state legislature that, not only did they draft a bill, but they actually filed a bill that would criminalize women who had abortion and charge them with murder and in the state of South Carolina, murder can mean execution,” Mace said in an interview on The Hill’s “Rising.”

“In a sense, the state, if it were to pass — it will never pass, thankfully — but they were going to give more rights to a rapist than the woman who had been raped. They were going to put women up to the death penalty who had abortions for any reason,” Mace said.

“And so you see these conversations happening and actual legislation being filed. And it’s like, what the hell is going on here? This is not right, and certainly doesn’t show any compassion to women. And we as Republicans, as a party, learned nothing from the midterm election if that is the playbook going forward,” she said.

The South Carolina lawmaker said her district transformed from “mildly pro-choice” to “vast majority pro-choice” after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last summer, and she warned that the GOP could face a rough 2024 if it acknowledges how important the issue is to some swing voters and look for a middle ground.

“People can be pro-life but also not want the laws to change. … And the Republican Party was tone deaf on this issue. It’s going to hurt us in ‘24. It’ll hurt our chances of winning the White House back, and we’re going to be in a dog fight to win and keep the majority in ‘24 in the House,” Mace said.

Man, should probably be a bit of a wakeup call for her and some other women in the party regarding how many men in the party view them. Should be.

One anesthesiologist’s testimony included holding up a single Tic Tac to illustrate the actual size of the clump of cells the committee would privilege over breathing patients in its “near total abortion ban.” “At six weeks, a human fetus is about half the size of this Tic Tac, four millimeters high,” Dr. Nancy Staats said while slowly moving the tiny mint around for all state senators to see. “It does not have a face. ... There is no heart, there is no lungs, there is no brain. It doesn’t have toes. It looks more like a tadpole.”

Imagine being a woman and being a Republican. Sad part is, stuff like this isn't even going to phase people like Nancy Mace. When they elected a lunatic and put those people on the SCotUS fantasizing about a time when women didn't have rights...well, hope it was worth it for her.

Exactly. I don't feel an ounce of pity for her. The Republican viewpoint on Abortion has been pretty much the same for decades. She willingly ran as a Republican and is complicit in all of this.

    Imagine being a republican woman.
    Imagine being a republican minority.
    Imagine being a republican LGBTQ
Imagine being a republican working class or poor.
Imagine being a republican who isn't a christian.

Really, being anything but a rich, white, heterosexual, christian republican. Quite literally any other kind of republican is voting against their own interests.

Second Idaho hospital, apparently serving a larger rural community, is shutting down it's maternity services due to the states vague laws on reproductive health care leaving the hospital too open to potential lawsuits for delivering basic care.

It also comes as the Idaho Legislature is on track to defund research into preventing maternal deaths; as state lawmakers have banned nearly all abortions; and as Idaho chooses not extend its postpartum Medicaid coverage.
In case there was any doubt here

It's not about protecting the life of the mother, if it was this would be vital research that they'd fund.

It's not about protecting the life of the child, or "unborn child", otherwise they'd continue to extend postpartum medicaid coverage.

It's seemingly just about hurting pregnant girls and women and their children. Especially if they're poor and can't afford to travel for maternal care and/or have private insurance that covers postpartum coverage.

You think there's going to be a tipping point for people in red states over this stuff? How much do people have to lose for the sake of the GOP's war on...everyone...before Republican voters themselves do something about it?

I think that all comes down to how effective Fox News and elected Republicans are at blaming the consequences of the Republican legislatures actions on the Democratic party.

    Honestly?
Probably when almost all the women are dead. Or at least their voters. The well to do will go to a different state. While the poor Republican voters will die like it's 2020 for them.

What amazes me is when they still manage to do it when there isn't a single blue seat in the state/area.

Florida Democrat Leaders Nikki Fried and Lauren Book Arrested While Protesting for Abortion Rights
    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —

Two top Florida Democratic Party leaders were arrested Monday night during a protest of a bill to ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

This comes after the Florida Senate passed the proposed six-week abortion ban with a vote of 26 to 13.

Nikki Fried, the chair of the state Democratic Party, and state Sen. Lauren Book were taken into custody by Tallahassee police. They were charged with misdemeanor trespassing after a warning.

Fried and Book were part of a group of protesters who set up in a park in front of Tallahassee City Hall, which is across the street from the state Capitol. They were sitting in a circle singing songs when police made them leave.

Tallahassee police say the protesters had been told they could not be in the park all night and that anyone there after sundown would be subject to arrest. Authorities say most people did leave at nightfall, but 11 refused.

Fried and Book were both released from jail overnight.
I am guessing a group of peaceful protesters outside late at night is a scary thought, anything could happen! Good thing the police were there to protect the protesters from themselves by arresting them for trespass. Don't they know how dangerous the city can be after dark? /s

In a public park across from a public building? There shouldn't be any grounds for any arrests. The police shouldn't even have the authority to demand they leave the location.

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is committed to enhancing the safety of everyone in Tallahassee.

Today TPD assisted in ensuring a safe environment for demonstrators from across the state as they peacefully protested Senate Bill 300 in front of City Hall, located across from the Florida Capitol.

The City had been working with protest organizers for over a week; however, due to the size of the crowd they were expecting and their desire for overnight camping, they were informed last Friday of the City’s inability to accommodate them. Upon the group’s arrival to City Hall today, they were allowed to utilize the property during normal operating hours.

After multiple warnings throughout the day, protestors acknowledged they understood that anyone refusing to leave the premises at sundown would be subject to arrest. This evening, after sunset, the majority of the crowd left the property while 11 people refused to leave despite numerous requests. They were subsequently arrested for trespass after warning.

TPD encourages individuals exercising their First Amendment right of peaceful assembly to do so in accordance with the law. TPD supports non-disruptive demonstrations and works diligently to protect and uphold the rights of citizens every day.

The news story is really about an arrest photo-opp. The protest took place during the day, but they were previously informed that the city couldn't accommodate their request to continue it through the night, over-night camping. Reasonable restrictions with respect to TPM.

The Tallahassee mayor overseeing the police department is a Democrat. The city commission that also is involved with liability (and cited in news articles) is majority Democratic Party. Democrats stopping Democrats, someone should really protest them.

Imagine believing that being a Democrat somehow magically means that a person has good opinions on policing in this country. Hell, Biden and Harris were both roundly criticized by people on the left for the shit they got up to when it came to law enforcement.

But do keep licking that boot. I'm sure it's delicious.

Tbf, at least democrats aren't actively pushing to make the country a hellscape. At the rate republicans are going we'll legitimately be able to call them the party of hate soon.

I tend to believe both parties are actively full of idiots, but republicans lately could teach a masterclass.

Yes. I was just responding to his "durrr, they're all Democrats so why you mad, bro?" garbage.

I happen to agree with their steps taken here. Imagine, a Republican looking up why the Democrat-run city police department did something, and finding they did right.

I think we're just two steps away from "Well, the Democrats aren't magically innocent here, and these are the same policies I just suggested are part of the hellscape push, but they just aren't pushing as hard." Maybe we're already there.

I hear fascism, racism, anti-LGBTQ+ enough from reading this forum that I think a poll would be majority "party of hate." Same page as I'm posting this contains the cognitive dissonance statement of wondering why anyone not from a particular sex class race sexual identity and religious group would ever vote for them. Maybe imagine believing that being a Republican somehow magically means that a person does not have good opinions on policing in this country.

I can find the tiniest square inch of common ground with you here.
