A stranger raped her in her yard? Why do I have doubts on that... I'm not doubting she was raped, but that it was a stranger in her yard. That seems a little far-fetched to me. Most rapes happen by someone the victim knows...
That said, what the actual fuck? Fuck you, Mississippi. Fuck you, Republicans. Fuck you, "Pro Life". Go to hell. This little girl has been suffering through one of the worst things imaginable because of all of you.
EDIT: I finished reading the article. I feel nauseous. This needs to be shared far and wide and put on as many news channels as possible. People need to see the consequences of their actions. I hate this.

@tehdang More crickets for you, Gérard. You gonna say something about what your kind has wrought or be a coward as usual?
“There you stand, the good man doing nothing. And while evil triumphs, and your rigid pacifism crumbles to blood stained dust, the only victory afforded to you is that you stuck true to your guns.”
I've said it before, but insult tagging someone into threads is not profitable for discussion. Hey [TAG] asshole answer for your crimes-style summons is stating your intention quite loudly, and it isn't respectful conversation in a very charged topic and one rife with infractions for not discussing it reasonably.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time." "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I don't think all of them do. I think some people are deluded. Maybe they've bought into the propaganda and think it's frivolous women getting abortions instead of raising kids for [insert silly reason here]. Perhaps they're under the impression these women will receive assistance and help in some form or another. Or maybe they're just so blinded by their religion that they think it will work out because God said so.
Perhaps the majority of them might see it the way you indicate (and note I'm not talking lawmakers, I'm talking people who voted those lawmakers into power), but I think there's still some people out there who have been duped into this mindset without realizing the harm they would be causing.
I don't really care why someone's kicking the shit out of their child. They're evil and an abuser. I really could not give less of a shit what their pathetic excuse might be; whether they feel entitled because they're the parent, whether they think the child deserves it, I don't care. Literally none of that is a defense, it's just them describing their vicious brutality.
It isn't "delusion". They're bad people. It really is that simple, especially if they won't admit it. I'd have a modicum more respect for someone whose an angry drunk and an alcoholic, and to some extent can't help themselves, rather than someone who feels fuckin' justified in their abuse.
And those same arguments apply to anyone seeking to deny women their basic rights to self-ownership. I do not care why they want to do that. I care that they want to do that. Their pretty fuckin' excuses and justifications are completely fucking irrelevant, and are not worth the breath they waste expressing them.
They're free to get horrified now and disavow everything they've said on the topic. Ask for help if they need it to get out of whatever situation sold them on being hateful and abusive. If they aren't gonna get horrified by their own choices, then no. They're the villains. They deserve everything they face for being terrible people.Perhaps the majority of them might see it the way you indicate (and note I'm not talking lawmakers, I'm talking people who voted those lawmakers into power), but I think there's still some people out there who have been duped into this mindset without realizing the harm they would be causing.
We wouldn't accept this as an argument if someone was beating their kid with a belt, or kicking a puppy, or burning a cross on a black family's lawn. Why the fuck would we on this issue?
Yep. 13 year old girl raped by her father? Forced to carry the baby to birth.
"But the rape exemption makes her able to get an abortion!"
In all red states where there's a rape exemption, it needs to be absolutely proven it was rape (though in the case of a 13 year old, it automatically is, but a lot of them will still argue she "asked for it") and in the cases of non minors, that may take months at which point an abortion cannot be done without it being a late stage abortion. And even then, they must travel out of state to get an abortion which for a lot of people just can't happen because they can't take time off work or even have the transportation. Cruelty is the point for conservative policies.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
They support violence against minorities, the support the suffering of women who "should have kept their legs crossed, the support the needless suffering of poor people. You've seen it here with #ShittyVoltron -- they aren't horrified by their actions. They want those people hurt -- because they're too fucking stupid to realize that eventually they're going to be the ones who end up on the receiving end of the shitty politicians they put in office.

It's hard not to paint them with the same brush when they keep going on about rape. If their exception is that a woman must be raped to have an abortion they're coming right out and saying a woman has to be violated to have control of her own body. It's fucked up.

Yes? And? I'm not denying that it's fucked up. I'm not defending them. I'm not on their side. I think what they've done is disgusting and abhorrent and needs to be fought every step of the way until it's reversed. What is your point? That people are incapable of feeling remorse and changing for the better? That we should just always punish people and never give them a chance for redemption? Where are you going with all this?
I'm not saying we shouldn't give them a chance at redemption. However if they continue to vote for people that push for policies that harm people for no other reason other than to rile up a base of sociopaths then you've seen what they are. The question now becomes -- are they feeling remorse because the shitty behavior they advocated for is starting to affect them or their loved ones?

Well yeah, fucking duh. Judge the shit out of them if they don't change. Judge them now for all I care. I just want people to understand that there is A CHANCE (albeit a small one) that at least a fraction of the people who caused this mess MIGHT be willing to try and improve it (since you can't fix causing pain and suffering to all the people who've already been affected).
As to the ones who will only change because it affects them or their loved ones... yeah. That sucks. It sucks for them, it sucks for their loved ones, and most of all, it sucks for everyone else. But if it causes them to change their vote, then the outcome is still better than it would be otherwise.
"You don't know, maybe they have a good reason to be whipping their kid with a belt."
If you're doing harmful, hateful shit, you don't get the excuse of "but I didn't know better". You can use that as part of an apology, after you've stopped that shit and disavowed it. Until then, if you're still being abusive and hateful, you should be treated accordingly, and I really don't give a fuck why they're being evil.
Some of us give a lot more of a shit for the victims they're harming. We can worry about the precious feelings of their victimizers way the fuck down the line after they've given up those views.

Again, I'm not talking about "worrying about the precious feelings of the victimizers", I'm talking about redeeming those who can be redeemed. OBVIOUSLY we try to help the people who need to be helped first and we keep at it until things are better, but part of that process can be winning over the few people who CAN BE won over and converting them to our side.
EDIT: To clarify, again, I'm not trying to protect these people. I am simply aware of the fact that if all you do is ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK one side of an issue without allowing them an out, instead of changing their ways and becoming a better person, they're more likely to double down and keep doing heinous shit. There has to be an escape route. Not to say changing will absolve them of their sins, but it's a hell of a lot better than letting them continue as they are. So that's where all this came from, that's why I said, "Show this to all of them and maybe you'll convince some of them to change."
