“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.” ~ Emily3, World of Tomorrow
Words to live by.
Then you read it wrong he can do what he can it's just that on something like this he is rather limited. All you have to do is think about it logically other republican presidents could have done the reverse if there was anything meaningful they could have done aside from removing funding for abortions here and there.
We should start a new religion based around the choice to have an abortion off of some weird interpretation of the bible, Koran and of course Joseph Smith contacting us and telling us it's ok! Maybe even a lost book from Ron L Hubbard!
Then you could fight for the abortion laws to be overturned based on them being discrimination of religious freedom. Republican's love to support this so they should be on board right!! After several SCOTUS ruling they would have a hard time not upholding the beliefs of this new religion!!
we just need a catchy name and figurehead
Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!
@Zan15
Easy enough, the religion of “Rationality”
It values logic, reason, and science.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
"mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.
Florida abortion ban violates Jews' religious freedom, lawsuit says
Florida's ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy violates the religious freedom of Jews because Jewish law requires the procedure in some cases, a Boynton Beach synagogue said in a lawsuit.
The synagogue said Florida's law, which DeSantis signed in April, violated the state constitution's guarantee of religious freedom.
"For Jews, all life is precious and thus the decision to bring new life into the world is not taken lightly or determined by state fiat," the lawsuit said. "In Jewish law, abortion is necessary if required to protect the health, mental or physical well-being of the women or for many other reasons not permitted (by Florida's law)."
The lawsuit also said that the state's constitution guarantees a right to abortion, citing an earlier ruling by the state's highest court. A group of Florida abortion providers, including affiliates of Planned Parenthood, brought a similar challenge in a separate lawsuit earlier this month.
So, has the Supreme Court actually put out a statement yet, or are they still scrambling to find a way to do it privately so they don't get lynched?
Nothing public since them saying they were pissed. Though apparently they're going after all the clerks, many of whom are lawyering up, and the court has devolved into everyone being deeply suspicious of each other making it more difficult for them to do their jobs.
Man, the Roberts court is looking more and more like it's going to go down as a bad court of note in history. And I hope it does so during Roberts lifetime. Fuck him, I hope he still wakes up at night sweating, woken by the sound of a toilet flush thinking that he's back hearing oral arguments from a lawyer taking a shit while "in front of" the SCOTUS.
Except you can't make a religious claim to ban abortion. That's the interesting thing about this lawsuit. The jewish lawsuit is a claim that the law is preventing the individual expression of the religion by blocking access to abortion.
Christians can't claim that - since (and this is what they always forget) if your religion bans something then....don't do it. Your religion doesn't ban others not of that faith from doing something.
But the religious right knows this - it's just about hate and abuse. Not about religious freedom. It's all hypocrisy at the end of the day. Like the baker who is weeping and gnashing at baking a cake for a gay wedding but happily bakes a cake for mary sue and bobby joe who are on their fourth marriage and their 5 kids out of wedlock will be ushers.

Aaand it happened. Going full speed back to the middle ages.
Land of the free lol
Was it 5-4 or 6-3? Many major news networks are saying different things.
Edit: I see now, Roberts would not have ruled to end abortion, he just ruled in favor of the Mississippi case.
