And for those of you that are "all for" this ruling, and therefore clearly haven't READ the opinion, you're in for a real fucking treat. Thomas' concurring opinion said that the Supreme Court “should reconsider” its past rulings codifying rights to contraception access, same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage.

So enjoy your "win" - that you're too narrow minded to understand is a categorical LOSS for the United States.

I saw a chilling post about how much more advanced our warrantless surveillance and militarized police are these days since abortions and homosexuality were made legal. Party of small government.

You do understand that Pre Roe a single income was often more than enough to support a family right?
So the mother didn't have to work. Also, hospital bills weren't nearly as high as they are now. In 1970, it was about 1500. Today, it is about 16,000. 10 times more expensive. (FYI, it was about 1,000 work hours in 1970 at minimum wage. Today is about 2,000 work hours in some states).

Also, given that it is now more important to have 2 incomes in a house at least and parental leave isn't a thing in all states, having a kid can put people into deep debt, especially if there are any health complications.

    Very scary.

I saw another post warning any and all women who track their menstruation cycle on a phone/device app to immediately stop, and uninstall the app.

Yah cause it's reasonable for a 12-year-old to be expected to come forward right away after she is raped by a relative!! To know she might be pregnant right away!!!

Especially with the state of sex education in the very same states that want to outlaw abortion.

Lol. I can go back in the posts on this very forum and find people arguing preventing illegal immigration would drive up the price of produce.

It bothers me that right wing politicians paint this as a "win for the people." The prior ruling had it as an individual's choice, the new ruling puts it up to vote on whether it is allowed. This is objectively a loss for individual rights, not a gain.

@Lobosan is entirely correct. Antiabortion laws are essentially an attack on impoverished people. You not knowing or understanding why isn't our fault. Take a look into the costs of child care. etc. And the fact that the GQP strikes down any attempt to provide funds for child care or parental leave or any of the litany of benefits other countries provide to help with raising a child.

That's the GQP in a nut shell. Taking away rights while calling it a win for the people. And there will be more to follow.

Even if she did come forward, I doubt she could abort it until his trial was complete. Surely within 9 months! /s

Your response makes no sense with what you're quoting. Care to elaborate? Next.

Because...that's true? I mean, that doesn't mean you support illegal immigration, but that's a cold, hard fact.

(again, am I doing this right? )

The issue is about poverty and personal rights and privacy. Just as a hint.

They don't even want to make exceptions for that.

Imagine being someone who was given up for adoption, only to find out your bio dad is a rapist who assaulted your mother and your bio mom never wanted you.
I don't think pro-lifers are capable of understanding how much that would mess up someone's mental health.

My mother who was raised by her bio-mom and adoptive father dealt with mental issues because she at times didn't feel she new who she was because her parents hid the fact she was adopted until she found out because of a school mess up in 2nd grade. And all three of her parents wanted her, her bio dad died after my grandmother got pregnant.

    (and @Varx)

SCOTUS and the GQP is going after all of it. Gay Marriage, Gay Relationships, Birth Control - all Under His Eye now.
They would go after interracial marriage too, if Thomas wasn't married to a white woman.

If I could move to Canada, I would. Sadly, I would need a totally new job to do that.

It would. Look at what happened in Alabama, they banned all illegal immigrants for about 6 months. When all of the produce that they grew rotted in the fields because they wouldn't pay people enough, they quietly got rid of that law.
