    Never touching any Overwolf shit.

In a way, this happened at a good time. DRagonflight will overhaul the base UI. If any of my Addons aren't supported on WowUp repos, I'll just ditch them in 10.0.

If you look at the picture in the link you'll see. You're part of the insider program?

as soon as curse was taken over by overwolf, i immediately deleted it, don't need that nonsense on my computer

wowup is much easier for me, will be sticking with that.

on a side note though nothing wrong with overwol for those who use it, i just don't need all that junk when it's literally downloading, and placing in a folder

    No you didn't...

It's not their fault you don't understand how wow addons are working. The saved variables are on your computer, where the addon comes from is irrelevant to your settings.

Addon devs get 70% of the ad revenue from Overwolf. Hardly a "small part" of the profit. It's a 70/30 split in favor of the developers, so Overwolf only takes 30% to cover server and bandwidth costs.

That's approved API applications, of which 32 (Discord?) bots. So not like in-game bots, if that's what you were thinking.

I hope Blizzard stops that shit by force addons to be free and not be able to monitarize by Ads etc.

Yeah we will loose some greedy authors but that’s fine.

Are you doing a windows insider program where you get builds of windows 11 that are not made available to the general public yet? if not, he is.

If I could choose getting kicked squarely in the nuts as an option to update a single addon in my dir -- I'd rather take 77 kicks to the crotch than install that janky-ass software to my machine.

Imagine an addon author getting money from all downloads, instead of only getting it for a portion of them because leeches want to profit from them for free.

Curseforge without overwolf is quite nice considering my wowup died 90% of my addons gone

70% is a small part? They are getting the majority of it.

Details! is still working on it, for example. Github would allow anyone to write their own addon management software AS WELL as fork AS WELL AS push updates to help authors.

If you're writing Addons in WoW for money you're going to have a bad time.

Hashtags are probably the only (practical) method. This particular topic is something I spent a fair amount thinking on and that particular problem is difficult.

Personally I'd be ok with Blizzard hosting the model for addons via git repo's. It'd make discoverability easier as well as many other things but WoW's dev's don't seem interested in resolving those particular problems. Who knows, maybe doing that would cost us a tier or something.
