Caught up on season 2. It's enjoyable on a superficial level. Goggins is great. Purnell is playing her role well. It looks good, if a bit too colourful. But IMO they've leaned too heavily into levity. Fallout always had a darkly comic and absurdist feel but they never felt like 'wacky' games to me. The world still felt serious even with its humour and OTT slapstick violence. Hardly anyone in this show feels serious or real. Also the factions seem far too inept. It's like almost everyone's IQ dropped 50 points.

Absolutley phenomenal fifth episode. They're really pulling things together. We learned a lot from this episode: There are things even House doesn't know, Barb is, perhaps, the most evil character in the entire show, The Ghoul and Lucy have reached a crossroads, and Vault Tec wasn't the one who dropped the bombs. I wonder... is it the Enclave who's the mysterious x-factor? Or is there a new show-only faction in play? I'm locked the fuck in for the rest of this season.

The fake-out with the camera pulling away behind the corner and the dude's head NOT exploding was the best subversion of expectations I've seen in media lol.

I've really enjoyed the season this far. I have some Fallout purist friends who are grumpy about certain things, but even they are not completely dunking on the show.

I found this season to be very dull. I can't be bothered for the time being.

This season just feels like a step down from Season 1 to me. Like there are interesting things, but they are bogged down by things that can be and should have been cut.

    Such a good series, goddamn

Even my dad who has no clue about the games is eating it up

The finale was meh. The season had its moments, but overall it was too superficial and unsatisfying. There's just too much stuff going on to fit neatly into the 8 episode format. It could really have used another couple of episodes.

I think they knocked it out of the park with the set designs and props. They did a great bringing the games to the small screen.
Is that Culkin boy a terrible actor or was he like that on purpose?
My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.

Honestly, this season felt a step down from Season 1 in everything but set design.

I just found myself bored most of the time. It feels like they wanted to get to the story for next season and just kind of phoned it in here to get the characters to where they need to be. And I just can't care for the Brotherhood's story at this point.

It suffered from "the middle of a trilogy" syndrome. This season was all to set up the major players, put pieces where they needed to be, and set up reasons and rationalizations for how the story is actually going to go.

Normally that would annoy me if it was a situation where they didn't know they had another season OK'd already and there was a strong risk of cancellation. But season three is all ready to begin filming in a couple of months, and there is definitely going to be a continuation of the story. And they knew that writing/putting this season together.

So yes, it felled unfulfilling and unfinished, because it was both of those things. All to lead into a new season where there will be a ton of pay-off. Which we know they can do, because they did that during the first season when everything was still unsure and they didn't know if they'd have another season.

Curious what the Forced Evolution thing. If it's super mutants that wouldn't make sense considering they're already around as shown when one saved Ghoul Coop.

I am in the other camp. This always annoys me because it is not necessary to tell stories like this. Unfortunately, this is coming more common place with streaming being the main way shows are watched. It just feel like these are done to keep people subscribed to these services.

I just been burned by The pay off will be worth it too many times to be okay with this. Can it be good? Sure, but I can't right now think of any that made it worth these set up seasons.

Finished s2. It felt less focused than S1, and also less impactful despite broadening the story as it did. There's a neat revelation or 2 as a setup for s3, but at the end I was like "whelp, time to wait I guess"

I like this take, and I hope you're correct!

I've really enjoyed it so far, its moving the story forward, Ill tag the rest in case someone hasn't finish s2 I was hoping for a bit of an NCR comeback but i'm not sure how long that will last. The deathclaw fights were cool, I felt bad for that NCR power armor it got shredded. there are a lot of scenes that do feel very fallouty, like the vault management getting wrecked by radroaches, finding a room fully of dead vault dwellers is exactly the kind of thing you'd see in a game. 'wtf happened here'. there are tons of little things, and they keep you guessing, stephanie triggering 'phase 2' won't know what that is until next season. looks like house may help lucy/maximus stop the legion, I can't imagine he wants them to claim the strip.

there is room for plenty of speculation, cooper howard is still fully focused on finding his family. i'm locked in for this show till it ends. Caulkin as Caesar I would have never imagined would be a thing. there are a bunch of seperate stories taking place now.

I didn't hate the finale, but feel like this seasson is greater than the sum of its parts with wilidly discordant variations from episode-to-episode. I felt like Episode 5 and 7 were great, but the episodes intersecting them were sometimes a bit much. The finale especially felt like it was trying to tie together way too many threads and felt a bit unfocused as a result. The writing team definitely have the right vision and tone for the series, but it didn't quite hit the same heights as the first season. Overall, giving this season a 7/10.

Hopefully we get Season 3 sooner than some other high-profile prestige shows that've come out recently (looking at you Pluribus).
