I can recall when alliance outnumbered horde before racials killed them. Are they pretending most didn't chase power now?

Make it work like Warmode with a tweak: Those who opt in/out get their own phase, and will only be able to play with anyone else who opted in/out. Including the same faction members.

I was more taking the piss at the people that take the faction crap serious and the horde was always worse in that regard from my experience. I'm not even sure if the alliance had a battle cry before Blizzard started to push for it heavily. Admittedly though, the horde could have died a decade ago if they didn't get belfs, because before people were chasing power, they were chasing looks. I mean these days even power is not really an issue anymore, the scales have just tipped to the point that people pick horde to gain access to endgame content in the first place (with the exception of oceanic I guess). It's kinda like WoW's hierarchy of needs (after Maslow)...

Even if we pretend shadowmeld doesn't exist, alliance still has better racials on average for most specs in both raid and keys.

Now but not then when it mattered.

This was when the raid mega realms were still taking place. Now things are set and alliance outside of two realms will exist from the merge.

You could probably make some kind of "coalition" that would act as a meta guild and allow most of the features of guilds--sort of a super-guild--which honestly could be handy even without cross-faction. Then you avoid same faction guilds which they might want to avoid.

My main question is what's going to happen with wowprogress and guild achievements - I'm reasonably sure more than 4 or our main raiders are swapping immediately for racials etc.

For real though, this is gonna happen in maybe the first couple of weeks or so and after that no one will give a shit what faction someone is. Maybe 1 in 50 raids will be like this.

Guilds aren't cross-faction yet, so that's your answer I guess: Nothing will happen, those that faction change won't count as guild members. Logging will work for them just like how it does for pugs.

I could have sworn they said this would work through group finder, which doesn't use any of those. If it's actually only for people on realID or in a community that's basically useless for m+ and arenas, which are 2 of the 3 things you're able to do with this.

I'm glad they did it this way. I mean, It's still Alliance VS Horde in the game. Opening would be gamebreaking. This function is only for friends and other people you want to play with without having the faction barrier in your way.
