Blizzard Plans Additional Nerfs to Sepulcher Raid Ahead of Season 3 Ending

Blizzard Plans Additional Nerfs to Sepulcher Raid Ahead of Season 3 Ending
Blizzard clarified that Sepulcher of the First One achievements such as AotC and CE will be removed upon the start of Season 4 on August 2. Because of this, they are planning additional nerfs to the later bosses of the raid.

Yes, we intend to close the current raiding tier for achievements such as Ahead of the Curve with the weekly reset the week of August 2.

We have additional tuning in the works, with a focus on the end encounters of Sepulcher. We know that currently far fewer guilds are on track to get Cutting Edge in particular than in past tiers and we want to address that in the coming weeks, before Season 3 ends.

    Big raidwide nerfs or GTFO.

really wonder how the decision process for season 4 went at blizz.

surely they were aware of the potential dragonflight release date when they made the decision.

and now they have to massively nerf the raid because season 3 has to be shortened to just 5 months to make it work? and for what just to cram in another 3-5 month rehash the expansion season? in an expansion where season 1 and 2 were 7 and 8 months nobody would care if the final season was 8-9 months.

It doesn't seem well thought out but the current tier is so miserable with pass fail checks I doubt many people will complain. For a lot of fights battle rez is almost pointless as few deaths dont instantly trigger a cascade that wipes the raid.

It is awful rotating a bench around but if you don't and are caught with 19 players you cant raid.

Expect a clearance sale in Sepulcher, 20-40% off everything. They're going to nerf the last three so heavily it will put the Anduin nerfs to shame.

It's a strange move because they made the bluepost like 2-3 months ago saying each season should be 6-8 months long and after announcing dragonflight they said season 4 will be a shorter season. And now season 3 will be only 5 months and season 4, with dragonflight releasing before the end of the year, something like 3 months? With their new token system it takes what, 3 months to unlock the third token to buy your final piece of gear from the vendor? So right at the end of the season their new system comes into full effect? If it's really that short of a season, they could've scrapped it.

But with dragonflight realising before the end of the year and their previous talk about lenght of seasons and systems of season 4 I think it's clear that management rushes the release of dragonflight because these short seasons don't make sense within the context we had and were told by the devs.

I wouldn't be surprised if they nerfed Anduin even more. Going from memory, I think this is the slowest filled Alliance HoF yet (technically 1 last spot as I'm typing this), and this is only occurring because the recent nerfs on June 21/22 nearly doubled the amount of Alliance HoF entries in one week. Seriously, it jumped from around 54-55 guilds to 99 in roughly a week. Even with that accommodation, there's still hundreds of guilds who are months behind their normal progress, minus the guilds that have quit/disbanded because of how this raid was tuned and dealt with.

Blizz needs a win at this point, as they can't afford a loss. A loss doesn't mean the game is dead, it just means it will be crippled for a long time if they keep losing the good faith of their players and the players themselves. These sorts of adjustments to the raid should have been done months ago. Heck, it should've been tuned properly from the start, but that sort of thing isn't going to happen until Blizz changes their raid tuning/design philosophy. According to Ion's own words when it comes to Dragonflight, this sort of thing isn't changing anytime soon. No one should be surprised if Dragonflight raids follow a similar pattern, but it probably won't be as severe as Sepulcher. I wouldn't be surprised if we get an Emerald Nightmare level of difficulty for the first raid in Dragonflight.

As a slight aside, they should just get rid of the HoF. Its intended purpose is an absolute failure, and it has very little use beyond that. If anything, the HoF has show just how bad the faction divide really is.

I doubt were ever going to see a raid tuned as highly as Sepulcher ever again. You had the WF guilds pretty much reaching their breaking point, and that bleeds down to the larger share of standard mythic prog guilds. Who wants to put themselves through the torture of trying to clear a raid with three different 200+ pull bosses (as they were in their original incarnations)?

raids maybe - but just wait for nerfs to m+ that will be going out left and right just to desperately try to bring people back to game who openly say they wont return for rehased content in s4

this shows also they have absolutely 0 faith this content will be liked

and should make us all scared for DF where half of dungeons is old rehased garbage

imo its idiotic - if they really aim at the end of year as release they should cancel S4 or just bump up difficulty by 30% and instead gear add cosmetic rewards to current dungeons

I hope the Jailer gets STOMPED into the ground and we jump on his stupid corpse to collect loot.

    Fuck this boss.

Yes, raiding and raidgearing is real "fun" in SL and esspecially in S3.
Guilds with mostly 3k rio score players struggle to even clear HC. And now, when a lot of guilds stopped raiding at all due to the bad tuning, they wanna nerf the raid...

sorry but, its one of this:
rading is to hard compared to M+ or M+ is way to easy. Right now, there is NO point so raid if you are not into ACMs like CE. If you want a nice equipped hcar, slog through the GV M+ bullsh*t and you will have a nice equipped char....

Thought I read these were already removed with 9.2.5, oh well... I don't think many care, they're busy enjoying their summer with friends and family now.

I think they totally missed the issue with why people aren't playing this raid.

Sure the difficulty was stupid and it's mindboggling they design this raid for 5 guilds to have a televised run to see people who play this game as a job beat it.
And more surprising is that they have no clear plan to make it playable for non-professional players, aka people that play the game for fun. The only knob they can turn is reducing the effect of mechanics that are the issue instead of starting with mechanics that can be fun (when performed correctly).

But the major pain point is that the encounters are designed to be as frustrating and unenjoyable as possible.
I don't know which torture specialist was hired to design the Jailer fight (or to be fair most end game raid bosses lately), but that fight seems purely designed with mechanics that are known to be hated by players. It's quite a shame that there hasn't been an raid endboss in the last expansions that I enjoy rekilling. The best part of these fights is that once you beat it you don't ever ever ever ever ever have to do them again.

That is until Season 4 starts and you can do them again
