    Interesting.

Still doesn't change the fact. His old model is so low res you'd never notice

Maybe they should've used his HOTS model if they wanted to avoid the furry connotations.

So does Texas. There's been three wildfires going on in my area all week. The power grid shits the bed every winter and summer. We've got homeless in all the major cities, the Republicans just move them around instead of fixing the underlying causes. Meth and opioids in the rural areas, not as bad as Appalachia, but plenty of drug addicts. Low wages, poorly funded schools, expensive health care, shortages of doctors and specialists. Rash of mass shootings lately, too.

Better than Arkansas and Alabama at least. Peak red states. Dead last in education, first in childhood obesity, worse economies than Puerto Rico which isn't even a state.

    Please.

I see no reason to believe that the people who think calling things "furry" as an insult wouldn't be doing the same exact crap if this showed up in WoW:

    Case in point. See below.

What does red and blue have to do with it? Lol hey everyone pick a side and scream at the other one so nothing gets done.

Sounds about right. Both far left/far right are just a bunch of idiot hippies, wannabe/corn fed hillbillies. There is no progress without compromise. But hey make sure you heart posts on twitter or share that biden did that image on facebook. You guys are doing a lot.

On a more related note the hogger update looks better. Still a bit clean looking but seems to be the newer style.

HotS models aren't meant to be used in WoW, for a myriad of reasons. First and foremost, HotS models are made with normal maps to do a good deal of its detail lifting; the WoW engine doesn't use Normal maps.

I assume you needed to google that, but now that you're back, the second reason is that HotS models are meant to be viewed from a distinctly near-isometric perspective; WoW is not. So characters in HotS are made to a different proportion to accommodate that with a different emphasis on what is detailed how.

TL;DR: "Rip this out of one game and just put it into another one, Blizzard" is not as easy of a fix as you might think. The new Hogger looks fine, and frankly is more than I was expecting them to do for an out-of-the-way nothing mob that's only notable for his meme history from vanilla WoW.

You're the one who claimed that "liberal policies were running California into the ground.

As the other poster pointed out, however, Red states have the same problems California has, they just don't have the single strongest economy in the United States by a wide margin and a budget surplus bigger than some state economies.

The failures of California to adequately care for its homeless populations and deal with droughts are due to not enough government involvement in solving those problems, not "too much." The notion that "make things bad enough for homeless people and they'll finally get it together and stop being homeless" well, surprise surprise, doesn't work.

Lol hey everyone pick a side and scream at the other one so nothing gets done.

There's not much to compromise on with "the right," seeing as they long ago left any sense of economic policy behind in favor of scapegoat identity politics.

Some things don't have a "middle ground."

But this is a thread about a hyena man in a fantasy wizard game. Feel free to take your concerns to the politics board.

Blizzard has been disneyfiyng their models for a while now, just look at the models of jaina, anduin etc, those look more like disney princesses than Warcraft heroes.

It's yet again pandering to the lowest common denominator, and the reason why WoW won't get better as a game. Too much trying to appeal to everyone will make a game nobody actually likes.

Visuals was never wow's strong suit, it always looked decent enough for It's time, but it had one thing nailed down up toband including MoP: it had a strong and bold stylistic look and respected and stuck to it up untill the release of wod.

How is a HD update that literally keept his ugly armor

´´ It broadly describes the processes of stripping a real place or thing of its original character, and representing it in a sanitized format: references to anything negative or inconvenient are removed, and the facts are dumbed down with the intent of rendering the subject more pleasant and easily grasped. In the case of physical places, this involves replacing the real with an idealized, tourist-friendly veneer—resembling the "Main Street, U.S.A." attractions at Disney theme parks.´´

the old hogger looks more like some old disney movie grunt. I feel though you dont know what disneyfying means and just copy pasted a buzzword.

WoW's in game art never reflected Samwise's art. and I love Samwise's art too. Shame he cannot use it for good instead of his current NFT ventures but I digress.

WoW's art style is still very much the same only with less polygons and smother edges. Which is actually more closer to Samwise's art than the angular low polygon count sharp edges, low texture style that WoW started with.

WoW art style was actually a big departure from Warcraft 3's art style, that in fact the arguments about WoW's art style looking too Disney today are the exact same arguments people were giving us back when WoW first came out in 2004. xD

Hell I remember people really hating on Warcraft 3 graphics style being too angular and blocky (despite that being a very common style around that time)

Warcraft's art style has been a common complaint for over 20 years lol.

I think the general criticism of the thread was also towards the more modern artstyle, not just Hogger.

That's a very bold claim considering a handful of models were basically ported from WC3 into WoW.

Are... yall really surprised at the change? I kinda saw it coming, Blizz has been updating models the past few years, since WoD dropped.

The original WoW model was set in the Warcraft 3 engine then they removed it for their own, some assets probably remained. But its far fetched to assume that if you put Arthas from Warcraft 3 into WoW in 2004, the models would match up at all. Cos they wouldn't

    behold, original WoW

I said "handful" not "literally every model".

For example, check out the Quilbeast Warcraft 3 model:

    The WoW model by comparison:

Besides the spikes, you could almost believe they just ported the model to WoW.
Which shouldn't be a huge surprise considering WoW was already very much in production when TFT came out (2003)

Disregarding that if you look at other, more detailed models used in the Warcraft 3 engine (such as the ones used for the campaign screen) they're damn close to WoW models given that they were developed a few years earlier.

That basically looks like a Beta version of an Orc guard and is done in the Warcraft 3 engine.
