Magnus Carslon will not defend his World Championship Chess title

Magnus Carlson just had a meeting with FIDE to say he will not defend his title for the World Chess Championship.

Basically he's tired of the out-of-date format, has little to gain and doesn't have the motivation. Magnus is not retiring from chess, he just won't defend the title. Ian Nepomniachtchi will play Ding Liren instead, the runner up in the candidates tournament, for the title in 2023.

For the record, this post would fit in any one of a number of different forums, but ultimately I decided to put it here.

This subforum doesn't get much traction. You might get more traffic if it was in the general off-topic subforum.

Seems like another smug professional Chess player. Things aren't my way so "whine" and I won't play.
I'm beginning to think that Chess is ultimately a solved game and Chess will go the way of Tic-Tac-Toe.

He’s just mad that it’s taking them forever to release chess 2.0
