The entire "Do your best to" section does feel strange to me. I understand that it's not the part intended to be enforced, but having the first section basically say "Be social" feels somewhat odd. I tend to help people who ask questions in chat, but having it laid out as some kind of expectation (again, not enforced, but expected) feels strange to me. Maybe I'm just getting old.

The actual enforcement part was just always the rules, so showing it to players again to remind them is fine I guess if that was a major issue.

People crying over social contract that reminds you to no be a dick while they still post nazi-alt right-homofobic-4chan stuff on their discord while playing wow.

Imagine getting this upset at being asked to not be a complete asshat to others while in someone's house.

Them: "Hey dude, could you not spout racist Nazi propaganda when you come over for a barbecue?"

Asshats: "This is totally unacceptable, you are just a bunch of pussies who want to oppress us free thinkers!"

Oh right, so they can pander to the bubblewrap babies of "current year"

Alternatively they're just asking people to be more friendly and not be cunts?

I seriously don't get the anger towards this. If you're the kind of person this pisses off you're the kind of person who shouldn't be playing the game.

It's just a glorified tip: "Be nice to other people" .. nothing to see

They basically ban people for telling them your dps is low get better.... even if it true and handled in a neutral way.

That’s just… not true. Or I would have been banned 200 times. There’s a polite way to convey what you want to say even if it’s not a pleasant thing. You donpt have to sugarcoat anything, just don’t be a dick about it.

Unless you have explicit examples, that is an outright lie. Yelling "God you suck you fucking loser" is not neutral, and even then likely wont get anyone more than a temp mute. I have played for 16 or 17 years and have raged plenty of times at people in chat in my youth, and been raged at plenty of times as well. I know of exactly one time that anyone i personally know got actioned, and that was a 2 day ban for telling someone to kill themself. Blizzard sucks a lot, but there is no need to lie.

You will use the incubus, you will eat the [Crisp Spider Meat], you will participate in GKDP runs, you will get no purples and you'll be happy.
The absolute state of Warcraft lore in 2021:
Kyrians: We need to keep chucking people into the Maw because it's our job.
Also Kyrians: Why is the Maw growing stronger despite all our efforts?

As long as they use it as something to actually correct player behavior and not just a virtual signal then I got no problem with it. Although I think its likely the virtual signal thing. Mostly because to actually enforce something like this you need people enforcing it and not just algorithm counting reports and auto banning people based on a popular vote. So at worse its just a click and forget that does nothing in all likelihood. So nothing to worry about.

Doubt. They're not doing a good job at enforcing their own rules, or rather said they're not really doing any job. They can't even battle the bots and boosting advertisers, let alone having to handle complaints like "Some dude said my dps was low"

It means nothing, just like the regular EULA, just click yes and move on and forget it exists.

    When does this actually happen?

Is this contract specifically explained when you buy the product via digital or Physical copy? Game cards included?
(Doubt blizzard has, or could rebranded all the physical copy's left on selves currently)

Otherwise, when I pay for the game without a included disclaimer, why should i have to accept a "social contact" ? I have already purchased the product without the terms being updated or fully explained to me.

I feel Blizz might have some lawsuits coming it's way. You only need one pissed off whale.....let alone a legion of gamers used to free expression.

You really have no idea how EULA or TOS works at all do you? Look at the back of the box for basically any physical media, it will say terms of services apply. These are part of the terms of services. Nothing to sue over, especially because free expression is not protected in a privately run game....

Just don't talk to people in-game.

Considering that waking up in the morning is now considered a micro-aggression against people with dead relatives, it's just not worth using words around other people online.

Simple, it's part of their terms of use agreement.

Feel free to sue them, and let us know how it turns out.

Nice work smart man. I never stated that the lawsuits would be feasible. Or lead to anything, i made a comment based of my views if the current social interactions.

But no, you go ahead and prove to every one how very smart you are with your smart condescending comment.

Go tell your mom that you "outsmarted someone" online she might finally be proud of ya. for one in ya life.

You understand Blizzard is made up of many more people than just the few turds you've been hearing about right? Saying you're better than the people who work at Blizzard is such a weird statement.
