sounds like it's been in development hell.
And considering the apparently new direction of the game it doesn't really bode well. Developers quitting because of lack of progress doesn't exactly give confidence in their own product or what they want to do with it. Maybe them trying to not be offending while still making a GTA game proved to be quite difficult since it's literally about criminals, which often are offensive. Either in actions or words.

never seen the game as punching down... always seen it punching in every single direction at anyone in that's involved in the criminal scene. Which you know, is a very aggressive culture to be in... Then the fact that a lot of criminals are in it because of bad circumstances and themselves are in a "down" position how can it be avoided?
really curious how this pans out.
It's like trying to make crime game and then say they will try to turn down the crime to not encourage crimes. It's essentially working against itself.

I like humor! I don't like low effort humor playing to the lowest common denominator, it's generally not funny. The, "Oh no! Protagonist discovers that the chick giving them a lapdance IS A DUDE WITH A DICK HOLY SHIT HAHA IT'S SO FUNNY!" joke wasn't really funny to begin with, much less when the 50th time. I'm much more into social critique and commentary, mostly punching up. Punching down isn't funny, it's lazy.

I just could not get into the HD GTA's. I played GTA 2 WAY back when I was super young and barely remember it, but I played the 3D GTAs so much (GTA3 and Vice City). Since I never played GTA 4 past the first mission and never bothered with GTA 5, maybe I'll try this one when it comes out.
