Heritage Armour quests: Character creation revamp

Now that the existing Heritage Armours have been out for a long time (…hint make the rest Blizzard) I think an interesting way of doing the races at Character Creation would be to outfit you with some basic gear like normal and scale the experience around that gear (not that it’s hard) and after creating for example a Blood Elf, you start your character at the Blood Elf Heritage Armour quest line. Learning and playing through the heritage of your characters race, and what makes them who they are, and at the end of it awarding the Heritage armour for that race to the character.

If you have already completed it once before you have an pre-unlocked feature to skip which they already have in place for other alt catch-ups where you get an XP Boost for the XP you would get for completing the quest line and move on to the rest of your playing as per normal.

This would only happen once per race and you would have the skip unlocked if it was already completed.

This can also remain in place as it is now and be able to be completed at Max level for those who already have said race and just want the cosmetic armour exactly like it is now in game.

That will neglect purpose of this questchains. Main purpose is to reward heroes of each race, not give some cool looks to fresh characters.
In every heritage chain we have "You done awesome, lad. You are hero of our race, so there - take this armour as reward".
Its not about being Blood Elf, its about being hero of blood elf people.

It’s also been out for long enough now that it’s not really that much of an impact anymore and could be more better utilised in a way to bring newer players into the history of that race and why they are who they are.

If you don’t have it by now you don’t have it because you don’t care for it and for no other reason. So why not utilise the armour and quest chain to educate new players?

Than why should people farm old reputation for transmog items, mounts, toys and pets? Because it is reward for your time dedicated for that faction. Same logic with Heritage Armor.

I think you are not understanding the purpouse of Heritage Armor: they're a reward for actually playing and leveling a character of that race.
They are not in any way a tutorial. They're the culmination of the story-line that started in the original starting zones.

I see what you are getting at, but that logic is based on Heritage Armor either not being popular among the majority of the WoW community (if there is some data that shows that only a fraction of players have done it since implementation, or something) or if there has been consistent vocal disdain for the Heritage Armor (either the questlines themselves, looks of the actual armor, or somewhere in between). I don't think this is the case in either scenarios. Based on what I've seen across the WoW Reddit, official forums, and MMO-C it's usually people wanting more heritage armor questlines to hurry up and be implemented.

Blizzard should definitely focus on systems to educate new players but I don't think changing the Heritage Armor system is the move.

Kinda agree, but if this is meant for new players, the "Heritage Questline" should come after Exile's Reach on the least.

The problem is that a lot of the Heritage Quests are about treating you as a hero, and a new Character doesn't have that story, so it's rather hard to reconcile the idea of Heritage Quests being used as an introduction to a race's backstory when they require you to already be a seasoned hero within the world.

Maybe a leveling revamp would help address this by giving the player another big adventure before the Heritage Quest (around Lvl 30) so at least it's more consistent in universe why you're treated as a hero. My ideal scenario would be a revamp of all the OG starting areas into one questline that ends you being the hero, which then would naturally lead in to the Heritage Quest. A soft World Revamp of only the starting areas would help the new players understand the context of the races and the world, getting them up to date to whatever the current expansion is.

As an addendum, if Allied Races are unlocked, their "Unlock" questchain should be placed at the start (at least after Exiles Reach) as a flashback.

Draenei had such a questline, ending with a nice finale and a cool tabard... but because people do it at lvl 20 (back in the day) and SOOOOO MUCH happens after it, you tend to forget that it ever happened.

When you have it at the end, as a cherry on top, the heritage armor feels like an achievement!

I do agree with the fact that it would be cool to have more race-quests in the starting zone, and more class quests.
Or more race-specific and class-specific quests.
