So what happens when 1 or 2 bosses in the tank dips for whatever reason?

We're all newbs, some are just more newbier than others.
Just a burned out hardcore raider turned casual.
I'm tired. So very tired. Can I just lay my head on your lap and fall asleep?

Doubt you played before RDF, then.
While sure, one can still meet new people and make new friendships, I won't argue against that, the being forced to find a party and group up and such kinda helped you on the friendship journey aspect. The socialization. I absolutely have noticed people queueing RDF more than together ever since RDF was introduced, because it's just easier to just queue now instead of waiting for everyone to get online or be ready, for example.
I played since one month after WOW launched (was still playing EQ) the only thing that changed after they added RDF was I ran more dungeons that I did before, the amount I ran with my guild didn't change a bit (after I geared up a alt tank in RDF I ended up side tanking for a friends guild on dungeon runs *my guild had several tanks and was no shortage so I could run my DPS with them).
that RDF ruined anything is BS.
RDF didn't kill the social aspect.
There, that was easy.
Well then
Heroic dungeons are only reset daily as they currently are in retail
You probably don't notice it because RDF bypasses this but if you specific queue a dungeon you'll notice you can't specific queue for it again
That's how Wrath was until RDF (which no longer exists) came about. You clear UP then it will be cleared until reset the next day. If you half clear it then it's gonna still be half cleared until reset. Wrath was infamous for having trolls trick you into done raids and dungeons so you lose your chance at loot for the day/week

Because in RFD you can just shrug and requeue...you can't without
Been a while since I played but didn't with RDF you'd kinda get head of the line too when filling in a dropped player if you were already in a dungeon in progress? (it was rare players dropped, most wanted to just get the run in but Lag/RL etc happens, but don't remember really waiting long for a replacement)
Why not? You can re-enter LFG in the middle of a dungeon. Why not heroics?
It's all beside the point, though - the entire purpose of not having RFD is that Blizzard wants people to socialize more. Play with your guildmates and friends you've made in game. You have a roughly zero percent change of being trolled if you're playing with people you know and like.
Let me explain with this
Johnny is running UP with a pug
The pug tank left after 3 bosses, now Johnny needs to fill in he has 2 tank friends Steve and Billy
Steve already cleared it and as such cannot enter for him UP is completely devoid of bosses and trash and therefore cannot help even if he wanted to
Billy isn't saved but entering that dungeon with Johnny will lock him out of the first 3 bosses for the rest of the day denying him a chance of loot and badges . Billy can go if he wants but he's effectively getting fucked because of that pug tank rage quitting
