I think that is a question only you can really answer.
That being said, if I am allowed an opinion, no, it is not worth it. I understand you feel nostalgic about WotLK around this time when it appears in the news more often but to spend close to 1000 EUR for a game with the risk of not liking it like 14 years ago doesn't sound like a good idea.
Ofcourse it is.
But you won’t need the most expensive comp if classic WoW is the only thing you intend to play

Yes, to me it would be worth it. If my PC broke and all PC games would vanish except WoW, I would still buy a PC.
Same about Nintendo consoles. I buy them exclusively to play Pokemon games. Some games exceed all value by so much they are always worth it.
You tell us.

You really don't need a fancy computer to run WoW classic, with 400€ you can get a decent computer to run it. Check my signature, that thing runs on core2quad based CPU's at 60 fps, i also don't have any problem running Discord on background.

I still advise you to get a computer usefull for other stuff, a used 4th gen with a 1050ti on it would be great.
Hey OP, the specs in my signature plays wow classic just fine with 144 FPS in most cases capped when im solo + using a lot of addons.
Retail wow is a lot more demanding, but classic is OK. So aim for at least 3rd or 4th gen CPU, and a 900 series GPU. Id also hope to have 16GB DDR3, since 8 now a days aint fun.

Unless you know how to upgrade/diagnose problems yourself, I'd stay clear of a fleamarket pc buy and just look for a cheap prebuilt online.
For example https://www.digitalstorm.com/lynx.asp , the cheapest model here will play wow no problem and if money upfront is an issue they offer financing. There are other reputable online pc companies with lower cost units as well.
Well atleast you can get a very cheap pc to run wow i had a 970 and a crappy cpu before and had good settings still.
Do you hear the voices too?
Look you can run modern WoW on a pretty substandard system. I use a AMD FX Athlon Duo w/ 8GB Ram and a 750Ti (2GB)... it gets the job done. Only really have to cut settings down in raids or exceptionally busy city areas but I play on a low pop server so it's not really an issue.
It won't be too expensive to build a computer that can run WoW with no problems (as well as many other light games.) Most of your expense would probably be in parts that can be used to upgrade to a stronger system in the future if desired, though if you were really wanting to scrimp every penny, you could buy old parts that are effectively a dead-end for upgrading and save more. I would imagine $400 US would get you pretty close to a barebones system that offers upgrade potential down the road. Maybe as little as $200 if you're going the "buy old secondhand parts because I have no intention of ever upgrading this system"?
Honestly, though, I would look into a Steam Deck if you're looking for a budget computer to run low demand games. You can hook one into any standard HDMI display and the little APU on the Steam Deck is more than powerful enough to run WoW. Obviously, you're looking at probably 3-6 months wait on a Steam Deck order, though...
