It's not even that. His storys are just entirely boring and predictable. Always pretending to play 4D chess, when he barely manages to walk a straight line with the writing.
Haven't followed Shadowlands, but i just remmeber that in BfA, they were always "you'll never predict this!" and everyone predicted basically everything before it even launched.

They butchered Protection seven years ago, and evidently remain very pleased with themselves over the mockery they have made of it.

As much as I loathe to defend the guy, BFA was Afrasabi's work, the groundwork had already been laid for the story including the tree being burned down. Shadowlands was his work though despite what the clown posters over on wowhead would have you believe. Dragonflight is also going to be a dumpster fire.

Oh so is this Blizzard's new M.O.? "Buy the book and then a year later we'll start putting chapters/sections of it for free on our website."? Of course they start with a Danuser 'totally original new' story 'definitely isn't robbing existing characters of worth or ruining them' but neglects the fact that Dragons have been around for even longer than most mortal races so wtf would they have a day dedicated or celebrating to 'transitioning' into a specific mortal appearance when it only serves as a disguise and they've previously switched up appearances when the need has arrived.

While Visage Day is a thing, which I suppose is understandable as a culturally significant thing, where a dragon picks a form other than its draconic one, that doesn't mean that all the figures mentioned in this story, were actually at Chromie's Visage Day. They could easily just be embellishments for the sake of the story. The intent of the stories in this book were to provide interesting tales, not accurate lore.
While true it comes from their Azeroth's races fairy tale book, we're about a year out from Danuser spouting on Twitter about how proud he was to solidify 'the lore' behind dragons taking on mortal appearances and proceeded to swing his 'permanent marker' in people's faces about how 'inclusive' he made it.

Would be nice if as much emphasis was put on being able to select your own upcoming visage form.

Oh, was it? Honestly barely remember who did what. With his hard-on for Sylvanas and it being so Sylvanas focused, i thought it was him.
Well, not that the core essence changes of most things being incredibly obvious and pretentious

Who would describe the Lich King's story as charming or heartfelt?

    Gul'dan's thirst for power.

Illidan, Kael'thas and Vashj as servants to a horde of demons.

The Orcish clans making trails of devastation as they invade the world of Azeroth

Warcraft was never about hearfelt or charming conclusions, it's about war, tragedy and struggle and sometimes you get your cathartic moments BECAUSE of that strife (Wrathgate).

The World of Warcraft used to be more like Westeros and at least in-game it's been feeling more like Narnia.
What do you expect when a bunch of lefties, who feel the need to inject their personal ideologies in a fantasy realm based on racial warfare, become the narrative directors of the franchise? All the old guard of WoW left long ago, who knows what they are working on, if anything.

He's still got a massive hard on for Sylvanas tbh, the cringy redemption arc and everything Sylvanas was him as was shadowlands wild ride through hot garbage.

Personally I'm not getting my hopes up over next expansions story, he's all about the characters he likes.

"That made a lot of sense. “And the blue hair?”

Kalecgos shrugged. “You gotta have blue hair!”"

Take that with a GIANT grain of salt. The people that said that are the same people who would have to take responsibility for the dumpster fire the past 2 expansions have been. They got rid of Alex and then blamed all the crap on him. Maybe it was him, maybe it wasn't. Given we haven't seen much in the way of good storylines since then...... I remain unconvinced.

However, danuser has shown he absolutely sucks at his job, so they are leaning on someone who is definitely bad at storytelling, while blaming their past failures on someone who MIGHT be bad at it.

At the very least, I'm not expecting brilliant writing yet.

Would be nice if this visage form crap didn't exist. Or at least not for the dracthyr.

Let alone in the form of Danuser's sickening vision of it.

I`m with you on that one.
Either go all in with the visage forms, or just give a ton of added customization options for the dragon form.

Any chance at any sort of compelling story / narrative / characters / worldbuilding in WoW remains microscopic so long as Danuser remains the Principal Narrative Designer

Wait, the dragons have to lock in their mortal form?

    Well now they do apparently.
That is, if Blizzard doesn't forget about this story as they've done many others

Actually wait, I know for sure Krassus used at least an orc and a human form at some point.
