Outlaw, I like the pirate theme most among the 3.

Subtlety for PVP and Assassination for PVE. Subtlety in PVP is as fun as it gets. Assassination was always optimal damage for a rogue in PVE for me. I did play a bit of (when it was and was retooled as "Outlaw") Combat but it was never as fun or felt like a real rogue to me.

My main has remained the same rogue since the tail-end of Vanilla, and I've played all three specs at one point or another; to this day, I'd have to say Assassination is my favorite because of its relative simplicity and the fact that it's a DoT-spec (which are specs I find the most enjoyable).

With the recent talent rework, however, I've been playing Subtlety because I've always loved the idea of a rogue dealing damage with shadow magic, and while it is very fun, Assassination is still my preferred spec.

Thematically Sub, but unfortunately Mut feels the best to play.

Assassin mostly for the poison theme, but also I dig how some of the mechanics feel. Getting a Seal Fate proc feels really satisfying and along with the newest Blindside update, they add some interest to the rotation. Btw I also like how Blindside updates your Multilate button instead of requiring having Ambush on a non-stealth bar. Venomous Wounds smooths out energy and scales well on AOE, plus some gameplay around dotting a dying target to refill energy bar. Master Assassin was better but I still like the concept of coming out of stealth empowered. It makes sense if you get the jump on someone you would get critical hits in. (I don't like using Vanish offensively, but I'm ok with that being a byproduct).

For Outlaw, it's ok but I don't really find Blade Flurry or Adrenaline Rush interesting. Not a fan of the theme. Pistol shot procs are fun though. Personally, I would like to see this spec become a parry/dodge style tank role option for rogue. Also Killing Spree should be an Assassin CD imo.

Sub I ONLY played when I pvp'd. Loved Prep and the stealth bonuses, but I never really liked it in PVE and that's all I do now. Plus, I every time I've tried it recently it feels like a hotkey nightmare with the stealth bar stuff involving Shadow Dance and Subterfuge. It just has a lot going on and I would much rather play something else.

I still enjoy Assassin, but it doesn't feel as good as some of the newer agility classes like WW monk or DH. A revamp feels overdue tbh.
