Other then throwing hands with deathwing twice she’s kinds always been this way sending us to deal with Malyigos and only shown up after he’s dead, letting the wrath gate go down and just clearing the blight, sending other reds to try and uncorrupt black eggs while she sits around, ect.

She’s never been all that active.

See that's the problem, though, that they didn't seize the opportunity with Dragonflight to turn her into something more interesting.

Imagine if Raz and the gang sort of "took over" leadership of dragonkind, by manipulating or by use of force, and she had to go rogue and wear a cloak to hide her appearance. A bit like Anduin in MoP and SL, she moves around the map with us, avoiding enemies and finding answers. At the end of the day she reemerges triumphantly and takes back control.

To be fair, this is one instance where I am not sure you can fault the current writers to inheriting her brick of a character. If she couldn't show even a modicum of personality when facing off against Deathwing, her sworn enemy. Who captured her children and used them as breeding machines. I think it would be jarring to have her suddenly get all passionate about defeating a bunch of proto dragons she seemingly forgot even existed until she got to the Dragon Isles.

The most natural Alex conflict was killed in its crib in War Crimes, which is that Alex has lost all her siblings, half to betrayal, half to other causes and she is obligated and charged with loving all life but was forcebred by the orcs and then disempowered and sterilized by the Titans. In War Crimes she gets over it with a handwave, but in Dragonflight, the inter-dragon conflict is entirely centered on those very points that guarding mortals is a shit calling and that the Titans didn't necessarily improve their lives. Having Alex, who'd by that point have lost her family, the Aspect power that gave her the power to uphold her charge and her ability to continue her Flight actually consider Ras's grounds and have to actively reaffirm her faith in her purpose as the other flights are restored is the most natural development for her character.

I honestly couldn’t ever see Alex being the “go under cover to see how the commoners live” type of queen.

She’s the “go and get them minion” type only stepping out to do things her self when things escalate so she can’t ignore them any more, much like Ashara.

I agree she should be used more in my opinion, just when it fits. The Emerald Dream Patch along with Ysera makes sense to utilize her. She doesn't strike me as the type to hide and stuff though. Since theres been definite personal scenes this expansion. More talk with Ysera would be good, they really are(Yeah it looks weird sometimes but they are trying to get the very good cutscenes in engine with the player there to). Course the Emerald Dream can also be Nelven centric cause obvious reasons I rather not go over....again.

I honestly couldn’t ever see Alex being the “go under cover to see how the commoners live” type of queen.

She’s the “go and get them minion” type only stepping out to do things her self when things escalate so she can’t ignore them any more, much like Ashara.

I really, really prefer that she isn't. While some may find it boring that she acts lofty and doesn't follow the hero around, I got tired of that after Anduin/Katherine/Talanji/Bolvar/Pelagos (kind of counts). The "high-ranking leader/future leader is your party member" thing has gotten very old in modern WoW and I really haven't liked how it was executed other than Thalyssra.

Tbf Ysera seems to suffer from Blizz's new "we react to feedback" philosophy- thanks to the "Merithra should be the Aspect" crowd who cried about Ysera during the late alpha ...

Correct. Ysera was obviously built up to return and all signs of the story point to it, from the model to how she was presented in Shadowlands. But she didn't and now she's just sort of naff while her daughter, just as much a cipher as she is, but even less developed, has a seat that she shouldn't.

Honestly, i like all the story quests, but i really wish they would phase them or just put them in scenarios.

Having 50 randos dancing around in Tyrs tomb while i'm trying to do the questline in peace is not an enjoyable experience.
Especially if they start chatting.

I'm expecting the Eye of Ysera to be a hub, I am expecting Elune to make an appearance maybe, and some other things. Would be odd if the Eye of Ysera wasn't in the same part of the Dream as Elune's area personally, but if not, then that's okay.

Yeah I agree, its kinda annoying having everyone swarm to them. On one hand I love all the activity, on the other I basically didn't do the questline just yet cause everyone and their mom was there doing the quests.

Ysera, Merithera handling the Dream. Tyrande and Nelves cause that tree seed and such. Vyranoth as a antagonist for x reasons. Icy theme. Iridakron's involvement I don't know, Fyrakk possibly the antaganist this time instead of Vyranoth but thats probably well it wouldn't be my favored choice. I see Fyrakk doomed to eventually lose himself to the Shadowflame.

This is honestly why I decided not to do the quest immediately. It was already annoying enough not being able to peacefully release the spirits of the highborne in Crystalsong forest.
I am not ruining my experience with this questline by having to sprint to every quest objective before it gets tagged, and having my vision filled with ten different characters yelling memes.

In an ideal world we wouldn't need such a mindset, but enough narrative missteps have been made that it feels like a necessary evil to keep things vaguely on track. The excessive transparency would be more of a negative if the writers were otherwise enjoying a positive reception to their work.

The questline that starts with Uther assuring us that Sylvanas is good, only to then not feature her at all until the final quest turn-in was always suspect to me.

I think Ysera suffers mostly for being dead, you know. We can't blame any feedback when it would have been pretty cheap if Ysera returned from the dead easy peasy and became Aspect again.

Blizzard in general's probably pretty busy with the Diablo launch shortly but I imagine we'll see before too long.

Anyone have any hopes? Thus far I haven't spent much besides a bit on the hood from this month so I'm rolling in the currency otherwise. Hoping for something good.

I'd love if maybe they have the Stormcrow mount (blue version of the Rukhmar/Argus mount).
