this just reminded me of the time BfA alpha files were downloadable before even the alpha started (technically it was in friends and family alpha) by tricking bnet that you have access and download the files. I had a channel deleted from youtube because I posted various zone and dungeon explorations and got like 17 copyright strikes from Blizzard.

That's also not the most important point; the legion is the most iconic enemy in WoW, so people will tolerate a lot of demons - the primal elementalists are just discount twilight's hammer - elementals already aren't the most exciting enemies; and we've had two expansions that are very elemental focused - another one right after DF would, in my opinion, be extremely disappoint narratively

Agreed. We’ve dealt with elemental lords 5 times now. There’s not a whole lot left for blizzard to draw from.

I actually like underground zones, especially when you can enter them through tunnels like Zaralek. Makes the world seem more 3D, like the ground isn't just a flat texture above an infinite void.

I feel the complete opposite. I am honestly super excited. (I also am going in person.) I'm expecting them to knock it out of the park. I'll come back here and be sad if it isn't.

My theory is the the SAFE Pilot is going to be a part of a future Warcraft Rumble promotion similar to the ones they did with Heroes of the Storm back in the day. For those who don't know, the Primal Flamesaber was given out to people that played a certain number of HotS matches. I could see them giving it out to entice players to try the new game and help its metrics.
