Gonna out myself as the creator to respond to this (without hopefully breaking any rules), I was worried that the artifacting in some of the curves of the metallic tendrils would have given it away. There's a lot of the oil-slick AI kinda look to them, which worried me. I thought a photo with my phone may have covered them up. I blurred then sharpened the original image, then zoomed out of the art board in Photoshop, then took a zoomed in photo on my phone to mask it a bit, lol.

Would you be able to share where you found the font Blizzard uses? I was having a really difficult time finding any sort of brand standards outside of in-game fonts.

I have them through the $20.99/month Photoshop subscription, which includes access to all of Adobe Fonts, so that's one way, but I also purchased Semplicita myself from Canada Type since I liked it so much.

Incredible. I have the Creative Cloud bundle, poured over Adobe Fonts and skipped right over it, went for Futura instead. I want to make a small faux-mockup with this to add to my portfolio instead of being a throwaway. Thanks for the help

Could still have something in the bough. The tree will be larger when it's fully grown, and it also won't just be the Dream magic craziness when it's pulled over, so the map/zone will have to change significantly when it's added to the Isles.

What do we think about the empty space next to Tyrande? A spoiler character maybe? Ysera??

That gap is pretty much occupied by her weapon and Nozdormu in the background. Putting another character in there would 1) make it too crowded, and 2) take away from giving Noz and Tyrande's glaive full appearances.

On the subject of Tyrande: I haven't played the campaign or looked into her involvement, does she still have some Night Warrior powers? Or were they removed during the ritual to save her in Shadowlands?

For the future, I hope they add some benefits to staying on the ground, only using your mount for longer distances. Perhaps little treasures or nodes you can only discover with "yet feet on the ground".

I would love to use my wolf more, but ground riding really needs some rework too... I don't need any ground mounts combat, but it would be cool if our characters would look more "dynamic" on the ground mounts and also it would be cool if we could take our weapons, like some npcs ride their mounts with weapon in their hand.

You did a great job on it. One of the best fakes I've seen I think. They don't use that harder to read font for legalese at the bottom since you have to stick to strict accessibility guidelines with that stuff.

It was the heroic game time that I think gave it away mostly, not the design part.

Hello all, little update;

Stormbreaker was a fake expansion idea.

As a graphic designer I wanted to challenge myself this Blizzcon cycle to see if I could make something that not only seemed like a believable expansion amongst the speculation, but also something that seemed to fit within Blizzard’s new logo and title structure as well as overall art direction.

In short, I imagined Stormbreaker to be an expansion set on island hopping, rapid travel to the backside of Azeroth in order to beat Iridikron to whatever his gambit may be. I wanted to evoke feelings of mysticism, doom, and urgency. I have no details of what gameplay or lore may be, because it’s all fabricated.

Here's a better breakdown for anyone interested in the process:

The logo uses AI, but I’m not very knowledgeable in the software, so I used photoshop to make it fit what I had in mind. The globe portion is an AI generated root frame that I used some hue and lighting changes to adjust with a non-Warcraft map in the center along with a radial burst. The frame is another AI generated frame that I removed the inside from, mirrored, and cleaned up the edges along with some color correction and adjusting. The main logo was taken from the Dragonflight logo and color adjusted. The Stormbreaker logo was made from piecing together some other titled logos, vectorizing the font, and reshaping some portions to fit within the word and be unique.

I know the preorder bundle is what signaled to many this was fake, but I had a lot of fun making it. The image I took deliberately left a lot out in order to mask some portions that I was a little less confident in or knew were just not going to be included in a bundle, like the Lil’ Magzz battle pet lol. The “Carrock Escort’s Dress” was imagined to be a transmog, which in reality was only a recolor of the “Solemn Watcher’s Garb” which I really like. I decided to include less of this in the image because it was incredibly obvious.



I spent so long trying to figure this out, and could not. Thank you so much for finding this and calling me on it! As soon as I saw your comment I knew the smoking gun was found.



I actually intended this to be the original title, as it just made sense to me while journeying to the otherside, but I opted for Stormbreaker instead. I’ve included a look of the alternate logo with “Shadow of Azeroth”.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed looking at my attempt, even if it’s not up to Blizzard standards. I had a lot of fun with it, and I hope I gave a bit of additional discussion. Back to my main account.

I'm like 99.9% certain that it's both a Fyrakk and an Adventure Time reference. In this case Fern=Fyrn and being an alternate grass/dream version of Finn/Fyrakk

Fyrn/the unknown mount had the air/wind elemental related assets. Keep in mind that doesn't mean Squally/Stormrider do not, they might just not be exactly the same as existing assets (which is why the ones for Fyrn/the unknown mount show up).

Because of Dragonriding, World Quests, and events, I feel like all we see is civilization. Whether it be encampments, towers, cities, or other little dwellings. We hop between content and are never really encouraged to just walk aimlessly and explore down on the ground.

For the future, I hope they add some benefits to staying on the ground, only using your mount for longer distances. Perhaps little treasures or nodes you can only discover with "yet feet on the ground".

This is a great point. Dragonriding brings a much needed overhaul to the flying mount system, but you can't help but wonder what that does to the size of zones going forward and the usage of the ground as a mode of transportation.

I doubt they will release another pet(fyrn) when lil'maggz is still fresh in the shop unless it's a bundle.
