10.2.5/.7 can have story beats which feed this change. This will all be just 11.0 stuff which Iridikron/Xalatath being the main antagonists deeper into the expac.

Just a thought… seems like bringing a new world tree from a seed of the shadowlands would dictate some larger side effects.

Then again there’s a giant sword in Silithus still so meh.

EDIT: guess I should read the thread first lol
I like your title better than mine, but mine has "Surge" in it which is commonly equated as "electricity" which would have something to do with thunder "Storms", finally getting back to "Stormrider" as the mount name. Either or, I personally like yours.

I agree -- there's a brand new WORLD TREE that has come into existence over the course of.. ??? no time at all? There most definitely needs to be side affects.

I would love for this to happen. I just don't have that kind of faith in the writers to pull something like that off.

Well, I'm convinced that's going to be the title. Avaloren is the continent west of Kalimdor and Khaz Algar is one of the zones.

No world revamp. No Undermine. No Emerald Dream stuff.

I love Void stuff. Can't wait. I'm really excited for the "features" list.

They're going to have to focus on factions again someday, as much as people loathe it.. That is one of the game's foundations.

You put more effort into that than Blizzard does!

We did pretty similar with Kalimdor although I went east with my Tauren stuff. Felt Mulgore -> Southern Barrens -> Thousand Needles was a comfortable flow, but I can definitely a see a case for Tauren stories to the west in Desolace and Feralas instead
I think Desolace was their original lands until the centaur drove them out, or something. I forget. I associate the zone with tauren for some reason. Probably because centaur. Didn't they think the Earthmother lived under Desolace but it was actually Therazane's daughter?

Nah the factions need to go away for good. They've been holding the games storytelling back since MoP. That should have been the end of them.

Yeah they have pretty strong ties to it with Maraudon being there, with their whole "Earth Mother"/Princess Theradras thing going on. I don't remember the details but the Tauren basically messed around with Princess Theradras thinking she was the Earth Mother and then she destroyed the zone somehow

At the end of wrath/starting of cata would have been the best time to ease the factions mechanic, when a giant metal dragon in cohots with eldritch horrors wants to destroy the world, territorial disputes become a tiny bit less important

SL and DF are examples of the story getting boring without them. Because both sides aren't in contention with each other, the outside threats have to be interesting enough to hold the expansion together, and the only threat that managed that was the Legion. And even then, Stormheim still included some faction tension thanks to Sylvanas and Greymane.

What benefits do we get out of removing faction conflict? (And I know Cross-Faction is a thing, but a gameplay feature shouldn't dictate the story.)
