I'm sure some people felt the same way about the Dracthyr stuff. Heh. Anyone can dismiss what they want but, until I see another leak equally believable, I cannot ignore them in the discussion, myself.

I get what you are saying but they are so boring. Whoever leaked must have made a real effort to pick those 4 stills.

If the Avaloren leak is real, then the overarching storyline will have to carry this expansion.

Legion teaser also had boring shots, but the overarching storyline carried the expansion because people were hyped for the return of the Legion.

I expect at the very least Azshara to make her comeback in the next expansion as a major villain.

There is room for good story development if we get the crowning of Fenran Thaurissan II as king of dwarves. Just imagine all the drama that could start from wildhammer dwarves, and the impact of his new political view to submit his authority, especially on those newly discovered dwarves.

I just don't see why I want to defeat Odyn beyond the abuse of Helya who was our antagonist. (I know there's legitimate reasons for why our player characters would do it but again why am I doing Iridikrons' goal???). Re-origination at this point would be preferrable, honestly. So even that is just goofy.

agreed! which is why i think people dooming about how these 4 zones look maybe should take a step back and re-evaluate.

My intent with the legion comparison wasn't to say Legion had boring zones, it was just that context and story can give a lot of life to something that may otherwise look bland at first glance

if the story turns out to be about how Khaz Algar dug too deep and accidentally woke up the 5th old god and this is atually a void invasion expansion, that could still be super hype for those people

Legion also had zones that were steeped in Warcraft lore. Highmountain and Suramar and their relation to the War of the Ancients, Stormheim delving into Odyn and what happened with the keepers from Ulduar, Val'sharah featuring Ravencrest and the Nightmare.

Is there a legitimate reason for our character to do it? Does our character care all that much about the Titans and their keepers? Since when?

I do think if a still image of valsharah had leaked of green forest people might have just thought "huh what is that?"

but avaloren is a new place so it cant reach for that old history to help elevate it in that case and has to build its own lore

Unfortunately we don't have much else to go on. Hopefully we get a better leak in the coming days. If fake, perhaps whoever made the fakes is going to post different angles and claim it's a different part of the video, and give us a little bit more to dig into than just these random four stills.

While getting more images from the same zones "leaked" would be interesting (both for speculation and for validity), I also feel like a lot of people here (and elsewhere) don't really care/want Avaloren in general (even if the images were amazing).

It's still really far out. Last I checked they had job listings up for stuff as basic as art director. But I guess they do often announce games like 3-4 years before they actually come out, so who knows.

Werent there a lot of reports last year about it being almost done?

There's no way the screenshots are real. Even all the flora on the ground is reused, and it looks like there's some kind of coral plant on the ground in the Khaz Algar screenshot. Because coral in a snowy place makes sense.

Odyn is a fierce enemy of the dragons and if the dragons decided he was a threat, im sure theyd ask their allies to come aid them!

The lore could be entirely new and then linked to the old lore by using familiar concepts. That's not particularly hard to do, WoW is a wealthy enough setting to make it simple even.
But I honestly can't say what I could speculate for Avaloren based on these screenshots beyond the fact that it looks like it will have theme park zones instead of a unifying theme.

A Tyr vs Odyn cinematic would be cool, but it seems like they're setting up Tyr as an antagonist as well which is absurd.

The ENTIRE trailer showed that.

The point is that Legion trailer also showed some random hut in Highmountain, as well as that random Stormheim shot posted above.

If you were to leak Legion and show only those random boring shots, people would think that Legion is a boring filler expansion too.

The showcase of the Broken Isles literally opened with the massive Legion army pouring out of the Tomb of Sargeras. That recontextualized everything.

So basically I am not pessimistic for the next expansion setting. The leaked pics look boring as fuck, but I will wait for the full context.

Again, if you only showed that moose shot from Legion, I would think that Legion is a boring filler expansion too.

Be careful when saying the images are *definitely* fake. I'm not saying they are definitely real, but I think they are more likely real than not. I say this because someone linked the old Dragonflight speculation topic yesterday and I took a little trip down memory lane reading it. I'd forgotten how many "definitely not real" claims there were about the dracthyr - a lot of familiar names, too. Is there a leak, right now, that is more believable, that hasn't been objectively disproven?

I don't think any of the leaks have nailed it yet. Obviously something to do with Khaz Algar based on the Algarian Stormrider, but other than that, no clue. I'm hoping for a world revamp.
