Unprecedented HOWEVER they do most certaintly follow the goings on around here as evidence by the Wrath/Eye of Azshara stuff in Legion.
Edit: Trying to stop double posting as best I can. If Avaloren is real one thing I think Blizzard really needs to explore more in is Religion and if the Mage22 leaks are also real I do find it quite interesting that Lordaeron and the Eastern Kingdoms are really the focus of a revamp alongside Avaloren. A religious focus would be entirely new in WoW and a system for it ingame would be a really cool RP Edition.

That would be plausible, and a good way to improve on the Fated season. I thought the first one went pretty well for what it was- an experimental season, which, if I remember correctly, was thrown together by a handful of devs- and I can see them wanting to improve on it for the next iteration. Especially now that they have a bigger team and are consistently adding content every couple months.
Speaking of fated seasons though, I wonder how sets will work in it this time around. Obviously Sepulcher sets were the only option last time, but in Dragonflight, each week we'll be going to a raid with a different set available. Will everything just convert to Amirdrassil gear? Will we get to choose between the three Dragonflight sets? Or maybe a set specific to that season, but that seems far less likely.

Someone says this every 2 years.
(Alongside addict-addled crap like "What if they announced at Blizzcon that it'll be available tomorrow as a surprise?! Wouldn't that be cool?! It's possible right?! scratches arms")
It's as ridiculous every time. The most they probably do is have a low-profile community rep plant here or something.

I honestly think the leak is 100% real, maybe the reason why they reused assets to make Avaloren is because they are updating the old world, and we are actually seeing the updated old world assets in that leak.
I mean, the first screenshot looks like Gilneas or Silverpine Forest.
The second one looks more like Storm Peaks, but the assets could be from Dun Morogh or Winterspring, it even has a more HD version of the gryphon building from Hinterlands and a dwarf statue that could fit well in the dwarven zones.
The third one looks totally like Durotan, Barrens, and Thousand Needles.
The last one is basically Un'Goro.
I don't want to have hope about a world revamp because I've been waiting for one since 3 or 4 expansions ago and it never happens...but it's true that they are reusing too many assets when normally Blizzard doesn't reuse stuff for new expansions, maybe decorations like the harpy ones, but not trees, rocks and stuff like that, this is just one possible explanation. Of course, this could be the other way around, maybe they are making Avaloren look close to the old world zones to have assets ready for a future old world update, who knows, we'll see.
It isn't even conspiracy. Its negative PR. What happens if some goober who releases one of these premade fake leaks gets really good coverage, like the entire community goes "Oh yeah this fucking rocks" and then they release an game that looks like your Mother in Law as an infant? They alienate people with it. Leak season shows that here all the time because most leaks are just check/wishlists from people and everyone gets super excited then Blizzard announces something anyone with an IQ above room temperature could feasibly assume and the whole crowd gets upset because they wanted X not Y.

Ah yes. Gnomergen and Ulduman. Purely low fantasy Medieval setting.
Edit: I almost forgot Maurudon. Also an intensely low fantasy place full of very medieval elements like giant rock tits and....Centaur Sex?
Double Edit: I almost forgot Naxxramas as well. Very cool. Very low fantasy. Giant Floating Skull Castle. I definitely saw something like that in my history textbook about Medieval Europe.

There has never once been evidence of anyone at Blizzard doing a leak as marketing. I'm sorry, but it is the definition of a conspiracy theory to me. It's pure fanbase headcanon.
Cosmic greetings, all, I'm the Raccoonatic Commander!
Leowyld of Emerald Dream-US
Few places like that are more than fine. Whole exp about that would be boring AF.
But if i could choose Eastern Kingdoms-fantasy style over .... hmmm.... say... Zereth Mortis (from SL) = i'd always choose "lower fantasy vibe" (even tho we have the Dark Portal AND Gnomregan there... even zeppelins! )
Yeah. Maybe I didnt put it well together.
Glad that you got my point.
It's not about the amount of fantasy (since Gnomergan is literally medieval-fantasy-sf)... but the theme behind it.
1 looks super fun, cool, funny, filled with easter-eggs. And the other 1 looks like "playground" for devs who make games look like some random asian mmo.
Now sure how Gnomeregan is medieval. Unless steampunk is somehow medieval fantasy.
I felt like the Dragon Isles lacked these things and it also looked very samey, with the exception of the Azure Span.

I mean.. in a High Fantasy Game/MMORPG, yeah.. it's kind of a 'you' problem when those themes being all over an Expansion is a problem. Low/No Fantasy Zones are very much the exception, not the rule.
Edit: I do get that once in a while something lower fantasy is very refreshing and ANY theme could use a break once in a while.
