It allows them to more easily eliminate unneeded mountains and zone borders for one. It also helps with narrative issues. If a zone is larger is makes more sense to expand the quests into what used to be zones next door without making players go to a new zone. And it makes the map look neater as well as making the world feel larger in a way due to not transitioning zones every 15 seconds when Dynamic flying.

Give me cosmic!
Cosmic is fun as long as we do it correctly. I'd say give it 2-3 expacs before we revist it. Give the writers some time to think of something. Also give the artists sometime cuz I do not want theme park voidlands. Fuck that.
If we get cosmic I'd rather it come to us than us go to it.
That was the problem with SL to me, going into the realms of death
No 2 year development cycle expansion could compare to what we imagine when we think, "The Void"
Maybe if they do a little piece or planet that is void corrupted, but none of this "This is the entire void"

It's not so much the underground aspect, but rather Teriz just wants a more city-scape type of setting. Similar to what Mechagon looked like but a lot more seedier and less steampunk... Something that fits the concept of the Undermine. When we think of an underground setting, our minds immediately go to Zaralek or Deepholm... but it's probably more like an actual city as opposed to just endless caverns and tunnels. With a city being big enough to have different sectors acting as the individual zones.
At least that's what I'm getting out of his ramblings.

I'm honestly still praying the cinematic opens with a vaguely Greek woman's voice going "My world is dead."

I honestly fed up with Greek stuff in WoW after Bastion and other SL related beings. It doesnt fit Warcraft setting and aesthetic as good as other culture's mythologies.
In before someone say titans - they were incorporated in Warcraft for very long and blend in other mythologies well enough to not feel alien. But classic greek tunics and Greek-like names of characters and places do.
