It would be great if for the expansion announcement, they put up the screenshots and had a guy in a Chris Metzen mask come up and start talking.

Then two people in Nightborne costumes walks up on stage and say "An illusion! What are you hiding?" They de-mask the fake Metzen, then the lights dim. Across the room on the microphone, the real Chris Metzen bellows "Citizens of Azeroth, your warchief has returned."

Then they have the real reveal.

Chances are the 4 screenshots are real but I do think all the text leaks are fake.

Im inclined to agree that the screenshots are real and every bit of handwringing is just the same thing as Dracthyr or Mists of Pandaria being a Hearthstone expansion or whatever. I don't think it's 100% and there are some genuine arguments against them but for the most part it all feels like the kind of minutia that turbonerds worry about without realizing most people don't care and won't notice like with the assets being reused.

This was already debated a while ago in this thread, but that now infamous interview asked "the Primalists feel like they came out of nowhere, what's up with that?" and the answer was "well we already killed most of them", like.. what? Yeah, WoW has had plenty of times where it covers up something weak or silly with Rule of Cool, but this shouldn't be getting worse in an expansion also lacking the Cool.

That interview infuriates me to no fucking end I swear..... Even more so than one interview where they tried to hype up 6.1 in WoD.

Even the Twilight Cultists still had numbers despite the fact that we've dealt with most of them, they could've just said, "They'll be back down someday, for now we're focused on the Druids of the Flame and Fyrakk," and that would've been an acceptable answer. We have a right to know, who, what, when, where, how, and why the Primalists are thing, where they get their forces, and why they were such a big reason for releasing the Incarnates. (Stuff like this is what makes me worried about the next expansion.)

We sure as hell didn't know Garrosh was going to travel to an alternate Draenor to make a new horde that'd then somehow travel into the future to invade our future, alternate timeline (to them)

I’ll grant you that the time travel stuff was out of left field. However, the opportunity to travel back to old Draenor before it became Outland is a hook.

The same kinda stuff would apply to Avaloren. We'll know the hook by the announcement. (Hell, we can even come up with decent guesses by now)

I think he is saying there isn't any well known/well established lore to hook us in for Avaloren whereas all the other expansions had something from previous lore/expansions to hype it up.

Today we got 70 pages, so 2500 is pretty likely. Especially since we usually go super crazy while the stream is going and the new wow expansion tends to be dead last.

I feel like some of them may be from the media pack thing and not actually from the trailer, but I do feel they're real at this point in time

Hang on there was never any hint that'd we ever time travel to draenor prior to wod. In fact blizzard at first were gonna have Garry travel to outland and rez the warlords

Like I said, going to Draenor before it became Outland is a hook. You don’t need anything else, because you immediately want to see what the planet was like before it got torn apart.

This, so much this. Avaloren/Khaz Algar/Elun'Ahir/Erithria/Nighsquall are ingame books that no one reads unless they go out of their way to click and read those.
But Kul'Tiran/Zandalari NPCs are on a whole different level of foreshadowing. Not those obscure book references 99% of players have no idea about.

I can't wait to see that it is an actual obvious expansion instead of those fringe things.
