The more I think about this tree thing the more I dislike it. First I thought my night elf soul is already rotten so I don't care but I still care.... IMO WoW needs a full reboot. Nothing makes sense anymore. It becomes absurd. Why even have races and starting zones when all things left faction wise are human zones and the new starter zones with humans which then bring you to human stormwind, etc. Super boring. They could have done so many cool things with capitals and races having little wars between each other. I vote for WoW2 now in my drama phases xD

Well, my version of WoW 2.0 couldn't happen because of a complexity that Blizz writers aren't capable of doing well.
And at this point I don't believe Blizz cares at all about their inadequacy in doing anything right. As long as they have a core group cheerleaders that is willing to pay them for a few months of play it's all good.

That sounds tragically stupid. They are being acquired. The devs are safe for the medium term. Upper and middle management are not safe at all. Anyone who fails to impress in the months after the acquisition will be replaced. And unlike the lower level devs, I doubt management is underpaid.

You think it would be? If they actually plant it in a DF zone without ease of access for Kalimdor you think it will be revisited? Not to mention it would be Night Elf capital as part of a neutral plot? So would that mean Horde races would have to have access to it?

Well, looking back at the last expansions, apart from BFA with dark empire parallel dimension blends/invasions, where did we ever go back to a zone outside of scenarios?
It would be "OK" if they would do this from now on, even though the world tree being on kalimdor would be cooler, but I really really doubt it.

For years the main focus was on new continent zones and faction capitals. The one time Undercity/Teldrassil were in the spotlight in the past decade was when they were getting destroyed for shock value during BfA launch. They want to plant a new Nelf capital? Cool, bur let's not suddenly expect it will be some big, new player hub. Especially when considering that faction division is still a thing (or maybe it will be a next step towards unification?).

Not untrue. It still feels weird because it places what would be a capital quite far from the rest of the races' population. Even beyond the revamp/update hopes it moves the focus of Night Elves away from Northern Kalimdor which is what we identify with them. It would be like relocating the Forsaken from Lordaeron to Theramore (it's right next to Orgrimmar, the foundations of the city are there, it's a good port, they could have done it).

Same with Pandarens, AR's and now Dracthyrs. Not really sure what would they cook up with this potential new Nelf capital but I am convinced we wont need a place that is simply a new, big city hub.

Honestly the only way I could see racial capitals being reinvigorated is if we had something like a PARTIAL world revamp and in each expac the local capitals become the main cities for the faction. E.g. you could do Lordaeron and Quel'thalas and have Gilnear and Silvermoon as the expansion capitals (and make Lordaeron and Stromgarde as faction-specific projects that get rebuilt during the xpac). Do Northern Kalimdor and instead of using Orgrimmar, move the action to Thunder Bluff plus the new NElf capital. But I think that is wildly improbable.

Another thing that could strongly invigorate racial capitals is of course Housing.

If this is how you like to spend your time on the internet, sure. But peeps I hang with usually don't have such issues with handling other people lore/story opinions.

The only aspect that bothers me is that an Ardenweald tree and not a night elf tree. The branch is not even filled, it seems empty.
Design aside, I love that it's on the Dragon Islands. It gives this expansion for the first time in a long time RELEVANCE.

There is an Emerald Dream Portal as well as the Green Dragons. And many of you say there is no connection?
Additionally, it is on the Eastern Kingdoms side, which is more strategically advantageous since they have the Dragonflights + their Alliance allies nearby.

Why would there be stuff in it already? It looks like it just grew. Do you expect the tree to come with pre-grown housing?

I would say it's more like relocating the Forsaken to whatever place in Northrend, like the Scarlet Crusade towns, or whatever the Forsaken village on the eastern side was called.

It's a perfectly decent choice narratively, and you could easily link it up to Forsaken holdings in Tirisfal and whatever, but it's still not really that fitting for Forsaken in general.
A good example in my mind for Forsaken locations outside Brill would be the town whose name escapes me in Eastern Plaguelands, or Stratholme.

For the Nelves a good choice for new town outside Teldrassil would be Hyjal or Feralas.

I think you forgot Azeroth is a globe: Dragon Isles is right next to Teldrassil if you go the opposite direction. (Edit: The great impassible ocean is further south. Don't forget the entirety of the map is the northern hemisphere. So in terms of relative distance, if Silvermoon is Europe, Teldrassil/Azuremist/Hyjal/Winterspring is Canada, Northrend is Greenland & The Dragon Isles is Iceland)

I don't think that's true, the lore about Avaloren and Nightsquall implies there's a lot more ocean east of EK and west of Kalimdor with stuff in it.

Otherwise Medivh never would've told people to sail West to Kalimdor cause it'd have been faster to go east :P
